October 2012 Weddings

nerves=shot

Hello all!  Hope you had a great Labor Day weekend.

I am a 10/27 bride and cannot believe I am getting married next month!!  All the planning stuff is going well, I am so excited to marry my FI, and all is well otherwise. All the family gets along, we've had no really big issues in the planning, basically everything I needed to do is done, yet I still find that I am very anxious, even though I am happy and everything is going smoothly.  I do have a stressful job, but I've been eating right and exercising and I cannot shake this nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach.  Normal?  Just thought I'd ask.

ps I've been looking at all your pics of dresses and you all look beautiful!!!

Re: nerves=shot

  • I don't think it's abnormal to have a little anxiety and nervousness. It's a big day that you've spent a lot of time and money on and it's so close!! Maybe you're just psyching yourself up a little early for it? Either way, take a few deep breaths and you'll be fine. :)
    It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • NORMAL HUN!!! completly NORMAL
    I have it too!!!! I am a 10/06 bride... and it is going oh so fast!!!!
  • I can totally relate! I'm a 10/06 bride, and I am stunned by how quickly the time has passed! I'm nervous about balancing the final details with my other obligations at work and school, and the stress is really starting to take its toll. My stomach starts to do flip-flops when I realize how much I need to accomplish overall, but I think it helps to practice some basic self-care so I don't burn out.

  • I am a 10?13 bride and I am very anxious....thinking of running away anxious!
  • We're date buddies! =-)

    Totally normal! Try yoga in addition or as a substitution for a workout or two a week. I'm type A, always go go go and get anxious fairly easily, with a little effort I've learned to quiet my brain with yoga. I still freak out a little here and there but I swear my brain has learned to deal with the stress. Sidebar-I was always TOTALLY against yoga bc i thought it was too fru-fru. but now i loooooove it!

    If you don't want to try yoga try this instead.

    1.Sit on the floor. (I sit at the foot of my bed.) with no one in the room, no music, no tv, no pets.
    2.Close your eyes and start to take big breaths in from your nose and out from your mouth.
    3.Let your mind calm-if something pops in, say, a task that needs to be done tell yourself, 'i will deal with that in 5 min/half an hour/whatever, now is my time to calm myself and take a time out from my day.
    4.I find it helps me to relax if I repeat something to myself, something like-I am smart and capable/ i have all the talents i need to finish this task/ God has made me strong and i can lean on Him/ be in the moment
    5. literally if you focus on your words your anxiety will melt away. it takes practice but it's amazing! plus you'll be so relaxed and feel like you just had an hour long massage!
