Bad knees

Anyone else in this group have osteo-arthritis or bum knees?

Re: Bad knees

  • No, sorry to hear that you do. Chronic pain is really a bummer.

  • No, no bad knees.  But, I do have some arthritis in my lower back as well as degerative disks.  So, I wake up each morning and hoble around for the first few minutes.  It sucks getting old!

  • I have a bad knee that had three surgeries so far. The last one was the Carticel, what is sort of a implaant with tissue grown from your own tissue in this case, Cartilage. I can't use this knee for a lot of things and is still very tender and sensitive. I know, it sucks!!!Frown
  • I had my first knee scope on Oct 9, 2009, and then the second on March 9, 2011.  Both times they removed torn cartilage (meniscus) but I have severe osteo-arthritis as well - bone on bone now.  I am in constant agony and going to see the joint replacement team June 2nd.  Part of me wants them to replace it and part of me doesnt (does that make sense?)  It has really impacted my life.  I am a dancer and have to give it up.  I was on a clogging exhibition team but it is too high impact and can no longer do it and it makes me very sad.  Yesterday my knee totally gave out and I fell down at work (very embarassing!)
  • <raises hand> I do, I do.  I'm not sure what the issue is, I'm dreading going to the dr to see.  Both knees "pop" constantly when I walk and it's Loud.  So much so, that I get some strange looks.  My left knee buckles when I stand up after stilling for 45 mins or more and it aches non stop.  I know I'm too young for a replacement and I really don't want to endure that kind of surgery either.  I'm not doing anything about it till after the wedding.

  • Forgot to mention...I did a series of 4 hyalgen shots - lasted about a month, then I did a synvisc and was in AGONY, then they did an orthovisc, AGONY.

My wedding is in October and I will lose the insurance I have.  So I kinda want to get whatever needs to be done .... done.
  • We bought a new home last year that is 4 levels! ARGH!  What were we thinking????

They have given me 2 Rx's - one killed my stomach (can't remember the name of it) and the other arthrotec made no difference at all.  I take advil like its candy and it doesn't seem to help so I have been avoiding it lately to give my poor tummy a rest.

I don't want to live on pain killers, but there has got to be something that can ease the pain.  I will definitely let you all know what I find out.
