Where to find a dress On a budget?

Were Paying for Our wedding ourselves so Im trying to stick to a budget around $500 for my dress since I'll have to Pay for alterations, undergarments, veil etc. I've been to Wendy's and davids bridal but am looking for suggestions for other stores?? The problem I have is I'm Busty ( in the ddd bra size)'so have to go up to a bigger size to make the girls fit but my waist/regular size isn't large so I am definitely going to have to get a bigger size 18-20 and alter the dress down to fit elsewhere. Thanks!!

try memories bridal at trader's world.  all their dresses are brand new (ranging in all sizes) and they have their own lady for alterations.  you can take your dress with you the day you buy.  i bought my dress there for $325 and i think the most expensive one i tried on was less than $500.  they also have hair pieces, veils, jewelry etc for amazingly inexpensive prices.  its worth a trip to check out.  the only catch is that it is open sat and sun only.

Also be sure to check sites like cincinnati.craigslist.com  or preownedweddingdresses.com.  Both these sites have brides who are trying to unload either new or lightly used wedding dresses for half off or more.  Also try snooty fox.  They had a great selection for great prices.

Wendy's Bridal Discount Store... It is at 133 West Benson St. in Reading. Not sure if this is different from the store you already went to. I was just there yesterday looking for a special occasion dress (all their bridesmaid dresses are $45). The bridal gowns are between $199 and $499 and come in all different sizes! Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions! Wendys is where we went I found one I loved but they were ridiculously rude and I decided to look elsewhere given some of the horror stories Ive read on this board. I will look into the other places as well although I've looked at the place at traders world already and wasn't impressed with any of them. Thanks again :)

i went to bridal and formal and i told them where i wanted to be price wise. i found one i wanted and it was a little over budget, so they talked numbers and made it significantly lower for me. may be worth a shot.

I got mine for 349 at David's Bridal and I am busty as well. My gown is currently downtown at Kim Dao's Alterations. I did find a few I liked at a consignment shop in Silverton but can't remember the name at this time.
    Good luck.

Snooty Fox often has new gowns, so you might want to call a few stores to see.

I bought my dress for $99 at David's during their $99 sale, which they run a few times a year.  They also offer discounts on other dresses during the sale.

I was also going to recommend Chaz Bridal consignment on Montgomery rd in Silverton.  Make sure you call first though, because she changes her hours weekly, although I'm sure she would be happy to open the store for a customer.  As far as I know (the Chaz bridal woman told me) Snooty fox is no longer selling wedding gowns.  Their Mariemont location used to, but the store was forced to move to a smaller location.

I have a slip for sale (still) size 18, worn once :)  Its from Davids.  Let me know if you're interested.  I had my alteratioms done at Chaz, and the selection is hot or miss.  I feel you on the busty thing though it's rough!

I might just take you up on that!! Do you have a photo of it by any chance so I can get an idea of what it's like? I havent gotten as far to try those on in detail but I know I"ll need it too :)  I'd definitely give up the bust in a heartbeat as I'm sure you can understand!

i got a bridesmaid dress at Fabulous Bridal for under $300.

you should also try non-bridal stores like nordstrom, macy's, white house black market, j crew, camille la vie, and so on. all of these stores have a nice selection of white dresses online, not sure what you'd find in a store this time of year though.
