Narrowed it down but I need your help

So I have my reception venue options narrowed down to Dutchess Manor, Colonial Terrace or Hollow Brook Golf Club.  Can anyone give me feed back on any of these places - good and bad.

I can barely decide where I want to go to dinner on a Friday night - picking the place to hold my wedding is causing serious anxiety!

Thanks :o)

    Congrats and welcome!

I am familiar with all those sites! (which is rare on this board! lol!)

First off what are you loking for in terms of the "feel" for your reception -

Dutchess Manor and Colonial Terrace are historic mansions. Hollowbrook has more of a rustic feel, but is beautiful nonetheless.

Dutchess Manor and Colonial Terrace are more "traditional" type catering halls. Hollowbrook has more of a unique feel.

DM and CT host than more than one event at a time. At Hollowbrook, your wedding will be the only event going on. (Although, DM spaces their events 12.3.6ish so you do not completely overlap. CT will do 12/ 1 and 5:30/ 6.)Granted you ca decide on when yu want to have your event - you could hold a 7 pm reception if you wanted but there is no guarantees what time the other rooms event will be at. At DM at least, you know they will be hours apart from you. And at Hollowbrook, you are the ONLY event there)

Does the color of the room matter? Check the places, they have different interiors.

At Hollowbrook, they have a huge covered out door patio, So even if it rains, you (and your guests) have the option of stepping outside.

Hollowbrook has beautiful views of the golf course.

Dutchess Manor has beautiful views of the Hudson River.

Colonial Terrace has views of their property. (They do have gardens there, but it's not the sweeping views that the other places have)

How many people are you looking at having? That might make a difference in how your guests will fit in the room. (and at DM and CT it might make you have to be in a particular room)

All places have a spot for you as the bride can freshen up. DM and CT its upstairs.  At Hollowbrook, it's downstairs.

At Hollowbrook you are the only event. At DM each room has it's own bathroom for guests. At CT both banquet rooms' guests share the bathroom.

Will they let you have tasting before you make a decision - check it out. (Things might have changed since I looked)

Where is your ceremony going to be? Onsite or at a church? If onsite, find out from the venue where they would set up your ceremony.

    HTH! Good luck!

The good thing is that Dean at Dutchess Manor, Leon at Colonial Terrace and Robbyn at Hollowbrook are all wonderful!

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask or PM me any questions!

My fiance and I looked at Dutchess Manor.  The location is spectacular, but asking others for an opinion as personal as this one may leave you feeling put off.  It's your wedding.  Spend some time figuring out exactly what YOU want and then go for it.  I'm sure your day will be great regardless of the location you choose.

I went to a sweet 16 at Colonial Terrace, it's 10 mins from my house so it's pretty standard  to have parties around here, and the food was just okay. I would suggest doing a tasting to see if the chef has changed and if it's any better than it was in October. That's the only complaint I heard throughout the room. The sweet 16 was in the smaller room, and I was playing photographer for the party and the pics came out great. GL deciding!

I say take into account what was told to you here and reflect on your experiences at each when you went for a visit (and if you didn't you need to), check what each has to offer as far as food, ambience, etc...write up a pro/con list and then go from there....you should have an idea by that point which one is the right one for you ... because it is true that everyone is different.

we got married at the Colonial Terrace and i must admit, it was awesome... Leon was GREAT to work with and they are so flexible.  We were able to do anything we wanted all within the budget we set.  You will not be disappointed.  Dutchess Manor is good too.  We just went to a wedding at Hollowbrook and truthfully, I did not like it... It looks like a barn and the food was just ok at best.

I don't understand how you can compare the food from Hollow Brook to the food from Colonial Terrace.  Hollow brooks chef is classically trained and has worked in some of the finest restaurants in the Hudson Valley.  I could not have been happier with my wedding.  Colonial terrace is a typical wedding hall and I think the last poster is most likely a vendor who has nothing better to do.
