Wedding Woes

I need a do-over. Of life or something.

DD has double ear infections.  So we see a specialist on Tuesday to discuss tubes.  And by we, I mean DD and I.  When I asked H to go with, he acted like I was asking for his left nut.  He can suck it and stay at work then.

I woke up with conjunctivitis, so my eye is throbbing, red and disgusting.  Yay.

Work is hella pissed at me b/c I've taken off so much already.  And I'm irrationally hella pissed at H b/c he couldn't stay home with DD yesterday - for reasons totally out of his control and with the possibility of endangering the lives of an entire assisted living facility population.  So, I'm more mad at the situation than H.  It just seems like my job is always getting inconvenienced, which isn't fair.  I'm three days overdrawn on sick/vacation time so far this year.  And I have to make it up by the end of the month (feasible) or have it taken out of my next check (boo).

That's a big old pile of poooooo.  Poor Lauren and poor you.  I know exactly what it's like to be the one always taking the time off.  Rationally I knew DH was more "necessary" and I had more flexibilty, but it still sucked.

Good luck with the specialist.  You have been through more then your fair share this summer.

Geezo.  Your poor eye and DD's poor ears!  Can you get tubes in your eyes, too?

that sucks all around. Hopefully in the future he will be able to take off instead of you. WTF @ pink eye all the time. Have you asked your doc? Also, hopefully tubes clear up her ear problems. Poor kid.

This is kind of our situation too. Autumn also always gets double EI's and I end up at home. H's job is way more important but it's also more secure than mine. I don't even feel comfortable going out on maternity leave or having to be out for a few hours 2x per week for doc appts with the current state of things here.

Ugh.  I hope this all gets better fast.  Hopefully your doc can just call in drops for the pink eye.

I know she's had a lot of ear infections, but how many really?  And do they get better with antibiotics, or is this really just one loooooong, not-quite-cured-so-it-gets-worse double ear infection?

And what is the latest on the daycare situation?  Is she in a new one yet? How's it going?

H's job sucks all around.  First, it's just two people - H's boss and H.  And H's boss is in the hospital for heart troubles right now, so H has to do it all right now (and this has happened many times before).  They have clients that cannot be without their services if an emergency arises.  Which is nice - demand, and all.  But there are also days H has nothing to do so he sits at home web designing or goofing off, playing Xbox.  I don't begrudge him his job, but he's always busy at the worst times and free when I don't need him.

And then he comes home with a chip on his shoulder b/c I stayed home all day.   Like it's a luxury to hold a crying child 24/7, take her to the doc and deal with the pharmacy, plus get some chores done since I'm home with nothing to do.

I'm really at the end of my rope this week with his parental involvement levels.

I have drops from the last pink eye infection, so I pulled those out and have been dropping the hell out of my eye.  I have to meet with my doc on Friday to follow from my ER visit last Saturday, so if it's not better then we'll discuss it at my appt.

I know she's had a lot of ear infections, but how many really?  And do they get better with antibiotics, or is this really just one loooooong, not-quite-cured-so-it-gets-worse double ear infection?

In the first year (and not til she was 4-6 months or so), she's had 13 ear infections.  13 infections, including the infections that won't respond to antibiotics and last a month.  She's not yet 14 months.  And that's most of the problem - we're at the point where her EIs only respond to antibiotic shots.

And what is the latest on the daycare situation?  Is she in a new one yet? How's it going?

She started a new daycare last week and it's going well enough.  I'm a little off-put by the cookie fundraiser going on, but the director said if we sold just one tub ($6), it would qualify as "participation."  There will be one more fundraiser in the spring, so I may get off spending less by buying one thing for the house instead of paying the $50 opt-out fee.

Yes, from 1 y.o. and up, you have to participate in the school's fundraisers.  I think that's a load of bullsheet.  You can pay $50/year to opt-out of participating, though.  However, I'd rather them raise registration $50 or just tell me that one order qualifies as participation and I'll be ordering the cheapest crap every year and putting it in MIL's Xmas gift stash.

I know, but they do the head start and VPK programs, so I'm sure it's to off-set those expenses not covered by the state.  IDK.  It's ridiculous, but 3 other daycares I "interviewed" have the same programs/policies.  IT's not that unusual for this area.

That sucks. I'm sorry you are dealing with all the yuck. I hear once you've had pink eye your are more prone to it in the future. I hope thats not true, I had it for the first time this year and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Ear tubes: I know 5-6 kids who skipped the ear tubes and saw a chiropractor instead. No surgery, no tubes to fall out later+another surgery, less antibiotics. You might check that out. Babies as young as 3 months can go, but a good chiropractor would never "crack" a kid under 5. When I took Nephew to appointments they used an "activator" that looked like a toy and gently taps on their neck, usually they are in your lap. I know it sounds weird and new agey,  but if the alternative is surgery it might be worth looking into. I've heard really good things about it.

Nico, I think I might've had more ear infections than that as a kid or at least bad enough ones that I had to have tubes put in as well.  Mom says it was like an almost instant relief, both for her and for me.
