Wedding Invitations & Paper

Layering?

I am going to DIY my invitations. I know I plan to layer the invite and the response card but aren't certain about the other enclosures like accommodations and directions. Not only is it a lot of work, but it will add to the overall weight and postage. Do you think I can get away with leaving the last 2 unlayered? They're cardstock.

Re: Layering?

  • I've only seen layering on the actual invites.  I wouldn't do it for inserts.

  • We have 2 inserts plus a response card and envelope - we layered the RSVP card, but the 2 inserts were a single sheet of cardstock.

However, I've made many many wedding invitations with every single insert layered, or 1 of 3 layered, or some other combination. It's entirely up to you :)
  • thanks, ladies!

I realized that I have a TON of extra paper leftover in the same paper that I'm using as the 2nd layer for the invites.  I decided to cut costs and use those instead...however I'm only going to layer the invitations and the RSVP cards.  The hotel & directions cards are fine as-is. :o)
