Gifts for Parents?

What did you lady's get your parents as a thank you? My parents are divorced but they paid for the wedding together. FI parents are hosting the rehearsal. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Gifts for Parents?

  • I got a picture frame vase engraved. I will have flowers in it and put it in their hotel room with a card.
  • We got them the same thing we got our bridal party (pocket watches and personalized silver spoon bracelets) and then we also got them engagement photobooks and we'll be getting them wedding photobooks after the wedding :D

  • We got all the ladies involved... including siblings, parents and grandparents... a pair of purple pearle stud earrings.  We got the gents wood sided pocket kniives with our wedding day engraved, since some of my family members do not drink, otherwise I wouls have gotten pint glasses with our date engraved on it.

  • Thanks to ohnoitskaroljo I got both moms silver spoon bracelets from etsy, engraved with their names. Still waiting for them to arrive but can't wait to see them. Then for dad I got him a copy of father of the bride, and a gremlins poster (for some reason I had a thing for the cute gizmo guy when I was little, and my dad watched the G rated part with me a lot!) Then for FIs dad this sounds stupid, but he is a farmer and hates gifts... So we are giving him a bag of his fav candy (jolly ranchers) and a box of chocolate covered cherries if I can find them!

  • We are getting our parents picture frames engraved with our names and the date.  Once we have wedding pictures back, we will let them pick out a picture to put in the frame.  So we aren't just giving them a blank frame at the rehearsal dinner, though, we are going to write a thank you letter and put it in the frame.  I definitely stole this idea from someone else on here, so thanks to whoever that was!
  • We are getting both sets of parents Omaha Steak giftcards!

  • Thanks for all the ideas! I love to hear different ideas!
  • I'll be ordering both sets of parents Shutterfly albums with a similar arranging of photos as I do for our wedding album.
I also found online a really nice saying about how my MIL raised such a good man and I'm lucky to be spending the rest of my life with someone who is so loyal and respectful, so I'm putting that in a card.

  • FIL is getting a three opening picture frame. The first will be a picture of FI and FIL when FI was a kid, the middle opening will have a nice quote of some kind that FI will pick out, and the last opening will be a picture of FI and FIL now, probably from the wedding photos.

For MIL I got her a nice handmade pottery piece from a local craft fair. The lady that made it advertised it as a plant holder, and included a nice little plant in it, but the way it's made, it could be hung up as a bird house too. MIL really likes handmade pottery things, so this was something I thought she'd enjoy that was unique.

I haven't figured out my mom yet, lol.
  • I got my mom and FI's mom embroidered handkerchiefs from etsy (they each have sweet sayings on them that I picked out). I'm taking my mom to a lodge at a lake for a night before the wedding ("the calm before the storm"!) and we are getting his parents gift certificates to a movie theater and a restaurant (dinner and a movie date night).

  • Photobooks of our engagement pics from Mixbook.
  • We got both sets of parents a digital picture frame (my mom's last one died, and his mother will love it, as long as we do the uploading of photos)
  • Our parents gifts are going to come to them after the wedding. (once we aren't so broke) we are thinking of nice framed wedding photos of us with our parents for their home along with gift cards to their favorite restaraunts. :)

  • I feel you on being broke...we actually got all the WP gifts earlier in the year since we knew we wouldn't have the money now. We got the mothers "generation" necklaces and my dad a nice watch and watch case.  I hope he likes it, he is the pickiest man either to buy for.

<div>Same here...I actually have plans to get them each an album with pics from the wedding. It should be a pretty good surprise since they know we aren't getting albums from our photographer.</div>
