out-of-town clergy in NOLA

Is there anything out of town clergy need to do to in order to officiate a wedding in NOLA? I can't seem to find anything on the subject,
any info would be great!

Thanks!

I feel like we were just asked this...This is what I found, but it's worth checking out for yourself, don't just count on my googling!

The point is that it is handled at each Parish's (a.k.a. "County" in other states...) level.  So, if it's in Orleans Parish, that is the office you need to go to, not Jefferson Parish, etc....

    http://www.legis.state.la.us/lss/lss.asp?doc=106889

    Quote:
    RS 9:204

§204. Officiant other than judge; registration

An officiant, other than a judge or justice of the peace, may perform marriage ceremonies only after he registers to do so by depositing with the clerk of court of the parish in which he will principally perform marriage ceremonies, or, in the case of Orleans Parish, with the office of the state registrar of vital records, an affidavit stating his lawful name, denomination, and address.

    Acts 1987, No. 886, §3, eff. Jan. 1, 1988.
For some fun.....click "Next" on that document two times....

At first I'm like, well, that was the old times, you know, and then.....
1992????  Who did this in '92!!!

I'm a little bit speechless, Louisiana....

It also depends on the religion of the clergyman. If you are having a Catholic wedding, their are additional steps that non- diocesean priests must go through to officiate a wedding that is not in their home diocese.

yep ditto on the extra steps for Catholics. My great-uncle is a priest --he's married both my parents and I :)-- but we had to work with the church parish we belong to down here and someone from them had to be on the altar with us.

Check the above website and talk with the folks at the church where you're getting married (we were at the Ursuline Convent which is part of the St. Louis Cathedral)
