Battery Park?

I'm not even engaged yet but my boyfriend and I have talked about getting married since we met 2 yrs ago.  I'd like to get married in October of 2012 on a Thursday.  We've both been married before so it'd be something REALLY small.

I'd prefer to get an officiant to marry us in Battery Park because that's where we spent a lot of time when we first started dating because we both worked in the area.  Is there an officiant out there that has married someone w/in battery park?  I'm afraid it might be too "busy" since it's a tourist attraction and people that work in that area go there for lunch etc.

I know there's Battery Gardens which is a restaurant that does ceremonies and receptions but they won't take any reservations for a reception less than 100 people.

I know I don't want a traditional reception.  I want it to be more of a celebration with lots of dancing and drinking and FUN.  The only thing I'd really want is a first dance.  If anyone knows of good private party places in Manhattan that would meet those requests, that'd be GREAT!

I know I'm jumping the gun here but I really want to be prepared as much as possible.  Any help would be great!

You could do just a buffet/cocktail reception downstairs at Battery Gardens.  Its great and you can have the cermeony outside.

You don't need to the a full blown dinner upstairs and downstairs is so special.

    Good luck.

I would love to but I feel like they wouldn't have given me that option by the response of their email.  Should I reply and see if they have any other options?

(Of course I deleted the email and it's now gone from my trash folder).  I'm going to look into this some more.

Hey listen, all businesses are suffering.  It would not hurt to ask.

Explain you want a cocktail reception downstiars and the ceremony in the garden.  It would be perfect.

    Good luck

No luck :-( oh well, I'll find something else.

I'm still looking for an officiant who has married people in battery park/battery park city.  If anyone knows a couple who was married in battery park (besides the restaurant, battery park gardens) please contact me.

Have you look into Bubby's in Dumbo? Great venue and good food. Check them out or Rouge Tomate by Central Park and the ceremony can be in Central Park or in Rouge Tomate. I've work with Celadon & Celery who did many events there and it's amazing. You can also try The Jimmy at the James Hotel. Was just there for a Vera Wang event and the rooftop has a pool, outdoor space and indoor space for a cocktail hour feel wedding. If we had gotten married here rather than a destination wedding we were thinking of these venues. Best of luck!
