Help me!

I think I'm coming down with a cold. I've been sneezing nonstop for the past 3 days and my nose is starting to get a bit runny.

Tell me your best remedies for a cold. What works the best???

Sinex nasal spray.  It stops the running!  Suppose to work for 12 hours but it doesn't really work that long if you have a severe cold.  Dries everything out though

ETA - And lots of fluids and rest!!!

Chicken pho. Basically, chicken noodle soup. But pho has the spices that will clear your sinuses!

  • Lots of green tea.  Try to flush your system of any bugs you may have gotten.
  • Zicam, Mucinex, lots of water and vitamin C.. .Get the kleenex cool touch tissues - They are AMAZING and will keep your nose from getting red.  Hope you feel better soon!!
  • echinacea and vitamin B12. Lots of water. Lots of hot teas. nasal sprays. claritin. airborne.

My fiance taught me this trick: boil water. pour into a large bowl. place bowl on table. Sit in front of it. Take a large towel and drape it around your head and cover the bowl, Breathe in the steam. it works wonders. I will put a few drops of peppermint oil in with it.

I have killed off SO. MANY. COLDS. using this concoction of items.

I also love going to hot yoga (REALLY hot yoga) when I start to feel sniffly. Hot yoga in a room of over 96 degrees "mimics" a fever and will sometimes help flush your body of the bad stuff.

  • I was just going to say it might be allergies so try taking some Allegra or Claritin.

  • I love Pho.  Pho sure.

If it's really cold, it just needs to work it's way out of your system.  Lots of fluids and rest.

    Feel better!!

  • Yep. My allergies are killing me and have been all summer. Try some claritin D or sudafed and clear out that crap.
Or Zicam is a good cold killer.

Also, obviously, dont wear yourself out before the wedding. Get plenty of sleep, and enlist help from FI or BMs so you arent overly stressed. You'll never get over anything that way.
    Feel better soon!

  • Hmmm I never have allergies. Do you think it could be just starting up right now??

I think it's a cold coming. I prefer sneezing over having a stuffy nose or feeling like crap. Thanks for the suggestions! I'll have lots of tea, water, and rest. Probably should try what butterflyjumper suggested- how long do I keep myself under the towel??

  • This sounds crazy, but I mix a little Wasabi and soy sauce on a cracker and eat it fast!  It totally loosens the stuffiness, and then I use (again gross) a netti pot to rinse it.  Just be sure to boil the water and let cool back to room temp before trying it.  You want to be sure the water is super clean.  (or bottled water)

    Lots of sleep!
  • Yikes!!  Hope you get to feeling better.

FI believes in EmergenC.  I believe in chicken noodle soup.  Lots of rest and lots of water!
  • Katie... I feel your pain! I started getting a sore throat the other day. Lots of throat lozenges, Emergen-C and rest. Feel better!!!
