Busy day, and a WEIRD RSVP returned

So today was a great day... I had my first fitting! I was a little worried about it fitting, particularly across my hips, because I've gained about 5lbs since I bought it in January, but there was no reason to worry as it went right on. The sides need to be taken in at the bust and it needs to be hemmed (I'm so short!). I'm also having the sweetheart neckline taken deeper, as it's more of a scallop now and I want a true sweetheart (meow!) My MOH and I celebrated by going to get big ol' delicious cheeseburgers LOL!

I also bought a veil today! I had originally thought I didn't want one, since it seemed like an unnecessary expense to me and we aren't having a church wedding. However, I wasn't really feeling "bridal" without it, so I thought I'd try some on. I ended up finding the perfect one, with beading and detailing along the bottom that matches my dress to a "T." It totally went against my plans, since it was WAY over what I was considering spending. Between that and the alterations, I'm sore in the pocketbook! I'm extremely happy though, so glad I got to see my dress again, it's been a long 8-month wait. I'll have hair and makeup trials the morning before my final fitting in September, where I'll get to see the whole shebang. (sorry, no pictures today, we forgot in our excitement! I'll have some at the final fitting)

Now for the totally weird RSVP issue! We began getting RSVPs today, after I mailed invites on Tuesday. We got one for a person that we didn't invite and do not know! HUH?! The RSVP was for one person (we did the "we have reserved __ seat(s) for you"); there was no return address, but it did come from our city (or a surrounding suburb, since the mail all gets sorted centrally); it was a woman's name written down, but it looks like a man's handwriting. So, we're checking all of our individual guests to make sure they got an invite and it didn't get into someone else's mailbox mistakenly. FI thinks it might be a wacky family friend playing a joke, so he'll check tomorrow. I'm slightly weirded out if this isn't a joke, and we might be having an unwelcome guest! I'm sure it'll all get worked out.

  • sounds like a joke to me- now i am glad i added #s on the back if you did that you could check the # and see who it actually was! oh well you will figure it out
  • I can totally relate to the veil scenario. I was against one until they jacked me up 'Say Yes To The Dress' style and I was hooked. It just completed the looked and really made me feel like a bride. It is totally coming off after pictures for the reception. It would drive me nuts all night.

  • I was so against getting a veil as well so I can totally relate!  Last month I started looking at some online and went back to Davids Bridal to try on the dress with some veils and found the perfect one.

Hearing some of these stories about RSVP's makes me glad put return address labels on all the RSVP envelopes.  Hope you get yours figured out :-)

  • I totally get where you were coming from with the veil. I had originally decided I was a "no veil" bride and was going to go for the birdcage look. But then when my dad decide that he could make it I decided that a veil was the ONLY way I could go! LOL. I"m glad you found one that you love and that was perfect!
