Puerto Rico Wedding - Price Estimates

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to The Knot forums, but have founds some helpful information so far. So thank you!

My fiance and I are beginning to plan our wedding in August 2013 in Puerto Rico.  I have been looking for pricing estimates and the only thing I can find are percentages of how much of my budget I should spend on certain components.  I have some flexibility so actual amounts would be incredibly helpful to use as a starting point.

If anyone feels comfortable sharing estimates or actual costs for ceremony and reception venues, photography!, DJs, flowers, catering, etc., please send the information my way!

Thank you for your help!

Welcome!  Do you have any resorts in mind that you can start emailing for quotes?  That's how I started.  I'm no help with PR b/c I am a Jamaica bride :-)

  • Thank you both for posting!

We're not completely sure where we will have our wedding. We received an estimate from El Convento and it's are top pick.  However, we're also trying to look for less common wedding locations that could be a casual beach or mountain wedding - not necessarily a beach resort though.  Trying to explore options, but I'm not sure if on the beach or in the mountains would be any less expensive or stressful.

I would love pricing for photographers!  I really don't want to cut corners here - I would prefer a high quality, modern, journalistic meets wdding photographer, but don't want to spend a fortune either.  What is a typical estimate for 8 hours of shooting, some photo editing, and our photos on a CD?  I'm willing to create photo books myself after the wedding if I have all of the pictures available.

What is the average cost for a DJ?  Say 6 hours of music from cocktail hour through the party.

Flowers, again, I have no real gauge for what the range of pricing is.

Thank you, in advance, for any help you can provide.  It will definitely be a relief to start seeing some real numbers.  Numbers that I can take to vendors or to which I can compare actual estimates.

  • Hello! I am getting married at Hacienda Siesta Alegre which is in the mountains and not a resort. Here is the website:  http://haciendasiestaalegre.com/

I was getting prices from 1500-3000 for a photographer. I can't remember the DJ prices I was getting but I think they were in the 1000-2000 range.

Flowers are difficult, especially in Puerto Rico. There is no way I could get you an estimate because the price of flowers varies so much.

Honestly how I did it was I went on weddingwire and typed in puerto rico for the location, they have these forms you fill out and send the vendors and they have reviews. I just went down the list of photographers, videographers, dj's, bakeries and copied and pasted my information in each one. It took me probably 2 hours but I got dozens of quotes back. That made it super easy.

  • Thank you for the estimates and the suggestion of going to weddingwire!  I'll definitely be doing that!

I hope you have an amazing wedding in the mountains! :o)

  • I am a Puerto Rico bride as well!  I'm getting married at the San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino.  They have an all inclusive package that includes the DJ, MC, some of the flowers, and you get to work with a wedding coordinator at no additional cost who will help you with the reception and ceremony decor or anything else you may need.  Call Alia Puig, she's amazing.  787-289-5034.
