Evalines - please HELP!!

I bought my dress, veil and shoes from Evalines bridal in warren.  I have had several minor issues that have made me nervous about continuing to use them.  My dress didn't come in when they said it would, they forgot to order my veil, they ordered my shoes in the wrong color.  None of this has been a big deal because we had plenty of time left but now that I'm only a month away I'm not so sure I feel comfortable with them.  I have also heard a few other reviews about them where girls had a hard time.  I'm trying to decide whether to have them continue with my alterations, which I'm paying $300 for.  I also need to have my shoes dyed (from white to red).

Has anyone had any problems with this store?  Any advice?  I'm kinda freaking out at this point and would appreciate any insight.

I have no experience with them. But I would suggest taking your dress elsewhere for alterations. Some of the girls on here can recommend a place close to you. I live in Aurora, and drove to Olmsted Falls to Juliennes Bridal.

I think if you are having this many problems I would cut my losses now. It doesnt have to be this stressful. And what are they doing for $300? My bustle and hem was $125 out the door.

That was another thing- I think they purposely ordered my dress in a size bigger than I needed.  I fit into the sample dress perfectly and for whatever reason they ordered it bigger based on my "measurements".  ??  So I have to have the hem done, both sides taken in and the top of the back of the dress adjusted.  It ends up being pretty much any place that could be altered, is being altered.

I'm having cups sewn into the dress as well.  It's a little bit big there  :)

When I was 16, I was a bridesmaid in my oldest brother's wedding, and his wife ordered her dress through Evaline's, and the bridesmaid's dresses, too.  I didn't have a problem with my dress, although I had cups sewn in, and the one came loose during the reception, and my mom had to use her corsage's straight pin to "repair" it, I was a little irked. However, my SIL's dress was a near disaster, I don't remember what all happened (over 12 years ago now!), but I do know they had removed some of the side lace/beading for alterations, and didn't put it back on in time for the ceremony, which she was upset about, it was a fairly expensive, intricate gown.  I also seem to remember a lot of alterations, and postponements (even on my bridesmaid's dress).  I would say, if they screwed stuff up, jump on their case, this is their job, it's not your fault they didn't get you the right thing, they need to fix it.

Needless to say, when my mom said "Go to Evalines, they might carry your Alfred Angelo dress!"  I went to the Alfred Angelo store instead, and am very happy I did, all the girls were friendly and helpful, and prompt about returning my call when I called about when my dress would be in, which is going to be a month sooner than the sales girl originally estimated, I'm ecstatic!

Good luck to you, I hope everything works out!  Smile

I just want to update this message - which I meant to do a month ago right after my wedding - so that anyone who is thinking about going to Evalines doesn't get turned off by my original rant.  After talking with the owner about my concerns, she apologized and reassured me that they would do whatever they needed to make my dress and shoes perfect and make my experience at Evalines a good one.  My veil and dress were altered perfectly and were ready for me when I came to pick them up a couple days before the wedding.  My mom also got her dress there and when she tried it on after alterations it fit her like a glove.  My favorite part was actually my shoes.  They dyed them red like I wanted and they blew me away.  They were gorgeous, even better than I could have imagined.  So I just want everyone to know that I highly recommend Evalines and that any concerns you have will be alleviated if you bring them up to the owner, Lori.
