Invite

I know the font is small...I need to increase some of it, but wanted to get thoughts on an informal invite. This is what we came up with.

Re: Invite

  • i think it's really cute :) i've seen ones like this online, and i always thought they were fun!
there seem to be plenty of informal invites nowadays, and i think it's perfectly fine for a less formal wedding.

  • I think it's really cute but I'd be concerned that some of the older guests may not really 'get' it.

What about doing that as a STD and then doing more formal invitations?

The only other concern I'd have is that the informal invitation could make the guests think that the entire event is really casual.  Is that the vibe?
  • Well we aren't having a black tie wedding, but jeans will not be accepted.  I mean we're not royalty or anything.

  • OK.  I don't think the invite says that you could wear jeans but given that your venue is on the beach, it could lead people to think that it could be very summer casual - KWIM?

If you want people to be dressier especially since it's an evening wedding, I'd go with a more formal invitation but I'd use that design with other aspects of your wedding.
  • I think they are great.

It is YOUR wedding, so what YOU want... that is all that really matters!

Thanks. I feel like the "people will dress casual because your invite is casual" is sort of a long stretch anyways. People will dress how they want to at any wedding. I've never once looked at someone's boring invite an said " oh, this must be fancy because it has a bow and a pocket fold".

  • also, just wondering how big the invite is? Since it's so detail oriented, I would just make sure to print it out and make sure everything's clearly legible. There's a lot going on, and I know that's the look you're going for--just make sure the story doesn't get lost in the midst!

  • I think it is a cute idea.  Only thing I worry about is there may be a bit too much on the invite that it seems squished and may be confusing especially for older folks.
  • I love it!

It's not really a stretch. The invitation sets the tone and formality for your event. It's the first glimpse of your wedding that your guests see. They are supposed to base their attire upon the invitation, venue and time of day/year.
  • I think they are great and I think the tone of your event will be translated in ways other than your invitation. I think your venue, personality, website (which can display your venue) and even discussion at your bridal shower will be much more influential on how people feel about your wedding.
  • I think the invitation definitely tells me what to expect.  When I receive a formal invitation, I know it's a formal wedding.

If I receive an invite more on the fun or quirky side, like the one OP posted, I know it's more of a party/fun atmosphere.

Last week I received an invitation to a potluck, camoflage-themed wedding, where the bride printed her own invites on the computer and left off the date of the wedding.  I know what to expect with THAT wedding, too.
