Ring bearer or no ring bearer

Hi Knotties,

So far, wedding planning has been smooth :) and I am loving every second ( will probably bite my tounge in a few months haha). I have asked my fiance's niece to be the flower girl; she is a pro, has been a flower girl 3 times! I am now debating if we should have a ring bearer. My mother believes we do not need one since my future niece will be 8 by the time we get married and she will be fine on her own. I know she will be wonderful. I was debating on having one of my fiance's nephews be the ring bearer but I am not sure now. Any advice?

Re: Ring bearer or no ring bearer

  • Does your fiance want one of his nephews to be one?  It's not required by any means...  It's up to your fiance...
  • Only have a ring bearer if you truly want that child to be a part of your day. Don't just have one to fill a spot because you think you need to or to use as a cute props (we do see this a lot). How old will the nephew be by the time the wedding rolls around? I think since you are questioning the inclusion of the nephew then I think you should not have him be the ring bearer. You shouldn't be questioning the people you want in the wedding party, you should just know without a shadow of a doubt that you want them in it.

<div>Yes, this answered your question for me as well. </div>
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • We originally weren't going to have one. My cousin's daughter will be just turned three by our wedding and she will be our FG, probably walked down by her mom because she is a bit shy. FI's cousin is seven and will be our RB. I hadn't even thought to ask but apparently he's been in a wedding before and loved being a RB, so I thought it would be cute to have him do it. But other than him there aren't any little boys in the family so without him we would have just had a FG and that's it and would have been fine with it.
Definitely not a requirement to have either and I don't think it's strange to even just have one or the other.
