Please help! Another dress post....getting a dress quickly

My mom will be coming up here to go shopping with me, and I likely won't be able to do a traditional order from a bridal store as my wedding's 10/1 (she'll be coming the first week of June).

I put off getting my dress as I was getting really frustrated, and had a pretty bad bridal salon experience (the girl who was helping me told me to come back when I had a "better shape."). I also changed the vision of what I wanted, from big white gown, to sleek and modern, potentially with fabulous flair. Finally, I lost 30 pounds, and have already lost 10.5 inches from my waist and 8 from my hips (which put me at basically a 14, to now I'm at a 6/8, goal is a 2/4). I didn't want to have to do a crazy major alteration, and the bridal shops said I couldn't alter down that many sizes. But I think altering from a 6 to a 4 will be much more reasonable.

Budget: 2 grand, might be able to go slightly higher
Deadline: Will be ordering ~the first week in June for a October 1st wedding, so 4 months
Other requirements: No lace, no beading, no tulle

I'm thinking maybe my best bet would be samples, maybe one of the designers here (I love Chrissy Wai-Ching's dresses), and non-traditional places (Nordstrom, White House Black Market?). I didn't see anything I liked at Davids Bridal.

Luly Yang downtown has a line of dresses that sell for less than 3k.

They are stunning pieces and you may want to look into that. Their lead time is 3 months for the Blue line

Try Cicada downtown Seattle,  I go by there a lot and just by looking through the window it sounds like they might have what your looking for.  I have no idea about the prices though.  I think they also do custom dresses.

White House Black Market has some really pretty dresses right now, as does Nordstrom, and I've heard good things about JCrew's bridal line (I just quickly browsed online and I think it's worth taking a look).  Also, I ordered my rehearsal dinner dress from The Limited (I didn't even know they had a wedding department before), so you might check there.

Last but not least, I would recommend Pearls and Lace in Burien (even though the name is kind of the opposite of what you want!)  They have a ton of dresses, all reasonably priced, everything I looked at was under 2,000.  I did want something with embellishments and they had a lot of that, but they did have simpler (for lack of a better term) gowns as well. My dress was an Allure Bridal and it only took a few weeks to come in.

    Good luck!

PS. Sorry about your first bridal shopping experience, what a b*tch!  And congratulations on your weight loss-that's awesome!

I went to Lady Margaret's on South Hill Puyallup 4 months before my wedding and they had no trouble with the timing or with altering the dress down 2 sizes for me.  They had dresses from a variety of sources (mine is an Allure dress) with different styles and price points.

I've been very happy with the customer service there, and they weren't insulting like what you experienced (WTH?!?!)!  Also, congraulations on your weight loss - I'm still trying to drop more before the wedding so would love to know your "secret".

I ordered my dress from Belltown Bride at the end of February, and it should be in this week or next, so it will hopefully be less than 3 months. They had a lot of choices, including samples, and two lines that aren't at a lot of other stores I guess - Amy Kuschel and Adele Wechsler I think are the names. Anyway, I've had good experiences so far - the price point should be about right, too. Also, some of the bridesmaids dresses from the Dessy line (After Six, Cynthia Rowley, etc.) are really beautiful and maybe don't have the flare part you're looking for, but could definitely accomplish the no lace, no beading, no tulle parts of your requirements! Actually, although I did end up ordering a more traditional bridal gown, I sort of wish I'd stuck with my initial idea to do the non-traditional "bridesmaid" dress - I could have gotten a beautiful, simple, but elegant dress for a few hundred instead of thousands of dollars!

J crew i think will be your best bet with you qualification: no lace, no beading and no tulle. I will also check some dress from nordstrom (if you don't like you can always return it. Tadashi Shoji has great collection in my opinion :)) All the best!
