Northwest Method?

I'm considering taking this online course with Mary Rose to learn the Northwest Method- any reviews/thoughts/opinions? She said it was pretty similar to the charting method found on tcoyf, but a little easier.

Re: Northwest Method?

  • I've never heard of it. The 4 well known methods are Creighton, SymptoThermal, Billings, and Marquette.
  • Just did some google searches...Mary Rose Verret teaches Sympto-Thermal. It doesn't look like there is such a thing as "Northwest Method" it's just whom she is certified through (Northwest Family Services)
  • I don't know who Mary Rose is, but Northwest Family Services is a very legitimate organization through which to learn a STM of NFP.

  • Good to know, thank you ladies. Yea I had never heard of the "northwest method" but you're right it's basically the sympto-thermal method. Which is what I was hoping it was. I think I'm going to take the online courses with her. I'll be sure to report back! Thanks!

<div>Hi! My fiance and I are currently taking the online course with Mary Rose! </div><div>We have enjoyed it so far. It's very nice being able to work through the course at your own pace. You can start a lesson and come back to it at a later time. They also have an option for electronically doing the tracking instead of doing it on paper. </div><div>
</div><div>When you sign up for the course they send you all the items you need (tracking charts, thermometer, and text). My fiance and I personally think this online method works better for us than taking a class in person. We are able to talk privately during the lesson about what we are learning and that has been great.</div><div>
</div><div>They have you do activities during each lesson to make sure you understand the material before you move on to the next topic. You also fill out a worksheet after each lesson and get feedback from Mary about it before you move on in the course. </div><div>
    </div><div>Overall we think it's great!</div><div>Hopefully this helps : ) </div>

THANK YOU- I was hoping to hear from someone who was taking the course! I'm glad you're doing well with it, I'm considering it. when should I sign-up if I'm going to do it? I'm guessing I should do it before my next cycles starts?

So when you're actually done with the course, where do you get your charts from?

    I'm glad I could help!<div>
<div>It would be best to start before your cycle begins, but they encourage you to start charting regardless of where you are in your cycle. </div><div>
</div><div>You can either use their electronic charting app or I think they have something on their site for you to print off additional charts. Or you could just copy one of the ones they send to you at the beginning of the course. </div></div>
