Hey, me here again.

Me and my fiance(love saying that!) will be getting married December of next year. We're going to be EXTREMELY tight on money: think no decorations, DJ from an iPod, making all our own food kind of broke(not that we are, but that's only because we have wonderful friends who do those things for a living, and gave it to us free/cheap).
I am just wondering, are favors necessary? Right now, I'm looking to cut costs anywhere, and everything that isn't required is going out. So I'm wondering what your thoughts would be on a wedding you attended that had no favors afterward.

I work, I play with my daughter, I clean my house. I watch Doctor Who, Sherlock, Big Bang Theory, and Phineas and Ferb. I read Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and the Inheritance trilogy. I keep up with the news about Pixar, Disney, and anything new on my favorite shows.
On July 24th, 2012, the love of my life asked me to be his wife. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him.

So what you could do is make a small donation to a charity that means a lot to you and your fiance instead of favors (your guests don't acutally need to know how much you dontated)
Or just skip them all together. Honestly - unless they are edible or something that can be used I think they're pointless and a waste of money. I've been in 5 weddings in the last six years and I can't tell you how many favors were thrown away.
Hope this helps!
[QUOTE]My fiance and I are also opting out of doing favors. Instead we are taking a portion of the wedding budget and making a donation to the Humane Society in which we rescued our dogs from. At the reception we are going to have a sign (the flows with the decor of course) that indicates what we did in lieu of favors. It's very thoughtful of you to make a donation. If you're interested, though, check out the sticky at the top of this board that talks about donations in lieu of favors. Many people will suggest that you make a donation discreetly, and do not mention it to your guests. It is a wonderful gesture, but really is not a favor or wedding related.
