April 2012 Weddings

Crazy time...vent

My stylist is one a great friend of mine - i've been going to her for 4 yrs and she's been such a confidant and friend to me.  When i told her I got engaged, she was so happy for me and automatically offered to come to the wedding and style my hair  as her gift to us (her hubby works for a hotel so all that she would have to buy is her plane ticket & other expenses).  I've talked to her so many times during our engagement (8 months) and she's totally excited for the wedding and to "get away" for a long weekend, even when i talked to her on Friday - she expressed how excited she was and that she was buying her plane ticket this week.

Then i got an email yesterday.  She backed out.  I'm not mad by any means...just a new hurdle to jump over.  So, i'm in the process of researching salon's in Florida and pricing out bridal updos/makeup.  If this is the worst thing to happen...i'm okay with that.

  • WOW, so sorry chickadee but I love your attitude! We all have obstacles to work through and just need to keep our heads up because in the end, it will all be OK!

  • exactly - CF!  This definitly sucks...but not the worst thing in the world.  I'm more disappointed that my friend won't be there. :(    Like you said...just something to work through!

  • That sucks, but you definitely have a great attitude.  You think like me for these wedding items, there isn't much you can do, just go with the flow.

Good luck with the search.  Maybe post on the FL board to see if there are any suggestions?
  • This is definitely something you can work with and do as pp suggested and get some word of mouth from the local board in Florida.  I know you would have loved to have your regular stylist but maybe she at least give you a trial and take some pictures and give you some tips/notes for the stylist in Florida.  You may also be able to do your own makeup or go to a makeup counter or Sephora store earlier in the day and have your makeup done and purchase some of the items like lipstick for touch ups.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

I'm pretty sure i found a place...it's about 10 minutes from my hotel/venue. Gotta love Google.  :)  It looks perfect and when i called they said the manager had to open that part of the calender so the appt is mine!!  YIPPY!!  I def thought about doing my own makeup - i'm going to Sephora for an appt this weekend before the BACHELORETTE PARTY in DC!  I'm beyond excited!! Can you tell?  lol

I'd use the local board (Florida - north FL) but it's pretty dead for those of us getting married in Panama City (mostly used by Jacksonville & St. Augustine Brides).

    Thanks everyone!!  :)

  • So sorry that happened, but better she told you now while you still have time to make changes! I agree you are handling it so well! Kudos.
