Etsy

I've never ordered from here before, is it a legit website to order from?  I have heard of people ordering stuff and it turning out to be a horrible experience....any advice on what to look for, what to do etc?  Thanks in advance!

Re: Etsy

  • Well, I've never had a problem ordering from Etsy. Think of it as eBay but homemade / vintage stuff. Thing is there are GOOD sellers and there are BAD sellers. Just be sure to check out the seller's profile before you purchase from them. Their reputation will speak for itself. And don't order from first time sellers who don't have a reputation. :)

  • I love Etsy and personally have not had that experience with them. I would say to look at the entire posting and then to check the particular vendors feedback.

  • I haven't had any issues so far. I have ordered my veil, hair comb and BM's gifts off of Etsy. Here in a few weeks I am going to order a few more things. I usually look for vendors with high feedback and people who have lots of things in their store.

So far I have been pleased.

I have only had positive experiences with Etsy but PP is correct, there are some bad sellers out there and I've heard some nightmare stories, so be careful who you order from!

  • I am a huge Etsy advocate. My ceremony consists of almost entirely Etsy products (it's a vintage theme). I've had nothing but great experiences and a couple friends of mine even have their own shops. However, as with any online transaction, I recommend you use Paypal or something other secure method of payment. I've recently had unauthorized charges on my account after purchasing from Etsy and not using Paypal. Just sayin'!

  • I've bought a handful of things from Etsy and all were great experiences! Make sure you check out a seller's feedback before you go ahead and purchase. I would also pay using paypal, so you're protected in case you DO receive horrible products/service.

  • I have had no problems ordering from there yet. Everything I have ordered has been custom made and it is all great! Currently waiting on my cake topper and guest book to arrive.
  • I ordered my cake topper, bridal hanger and my shot glass favors from there. Good experience with the first two, not so good with the shot glasses. They were plastic not glass. I was pissed. Make sure you read the actual feedback comments and not just the rating. If I would have read each comment I would not have ordered the favors from them.

  • I had a good and bad experience. One vendor took my money, said she mailed out my stuff and it never arrived. I went through the proper channels and come to find out she deactivated her account, kept my money, and I never received anything! It was really frustrating.

Just recently I purchased some personalized shot glasses and the seller was awesome! She responded to my emails, notified me when they shipped, and was just a lot more helpful and responsive than the other lady. It's got it's good and bad but I second what the other PP's have said :)
  • I recommend Etsy. I haven't had an issue yet. I've ordered my sash, hair flower, and garter off of etsy. I've also got baker's twine and a suitcase for cards and my FI ordered me a necklace. Everything arrived quickly and exactly as pictured.

  • Definitely a safe site to order from, but treat it like Ebay.  Check seller feedback before buying, and email them with any questions before you pay. Prompt replies usually = good sellers. I bought my garter through a seller, and most of the feedback said "slow ship time, took a month to arrive".

    Sure enough..... 1 month later....

The quality of the item was too good to pass up though. =)  Thankfully, I had the time!

I've got a shop on there too...wine charms!  Most of the sellers are great and sell some really creative things.
