  • The weather is nuts. Last night we had a tornado touchdown about five miles away. Absolutely crazy for mid-michigan. If it's this warm now, I'm scared for summer. I'm definitely a winter person!

  • I am loving this weather, but feel badly for the people in the area that make their living off the "normal weather patterns". Article today in the paper about people who make 30% or more of their livings off clearing snow, selling things that surround the cold weather season.

It plays havoc with my garden though: tulip leaves are 6-8 inches above the ground, my lilac bushes have buds on them. Means I have to get busy weeding sooner than I planned.

I put the screens in my storm doors this weekend to take advantage of having nice fresh air in the house.

    I hope everyone's ok!

And thanks for bringing it back Cori!
  • Thanks for bringing it back, Cori, I love it!

And Sue, that's exactly why I told DH to not get into a business like that. Having a job that relies on something uncontrollable, like the weather, is not promising. When I went up to the UP about 3 weeks ago we went to Tahquemenon Falls and there was a brewery we went to after snowshoeing. They generally close at 8:30 on Saturday nights but when we were up there, it was somewhat crowded and we left around 9 and they had no thoughts on closing anytime soon because they needed the business badly! (Lack of snow = lack of people going up north for winter fun!)

  • I am digging it as well!!  It works out great for them to work on our house.

  • This wacky weather is also bad for farmers - NPR had a story about how apple orchards can be damaged by not having a full winter. When the ground thaws and then refreezes and thaws and refreezes it doesn't leave the trees their normal winter defense...it's like the tree thinks it's spring too early and that can really damage them (apparently).

Seemed interesting, but it's possible if this becomes the norm over time that plants will adjust? Maybe?

  • it's freezing here in Seattle.. and gross.  November-June is rainy season, but it's been uncharacteristically cold, which is a bummer :(
  • I'm LOVING it!  I'm not a winter person by any means so I'm enjoying it.
    Thanks for bringing it Cori!
