WP gifts

OK my offbeat brides...I know I can always turn to you for inspiration...

WP gifts are on my mind. Ours is small, my sister, his sister, my brothers GF, and then his two best friends and my brother. There's a fairly big age span (21-43) so I don't know that getting the same thing for all the girls/boys is the way to go though it is easier.

Any great ideas you have come across? Or for you seasoned wives...what did you do? I've been etsying like whoa and I'm still coming up short.

TIA! x

Re: WP gifts

  • Bottlehood on Etsy is where we purchased our  WP gifts. They upcycle alcoholic beverage bottles into drinking glasses or vases so this fit well with our group as they all enjoy a good libation. Girls each received an upcycled vodka bottle glass and boys received an upcycled beer bottle glass. They also melt wine bottles into cheese boards which I think is cute!

  • Those are really cool! Ironically though, FI and I met in AA, so perhaps not a good fit for us!! LOL

  • Haha, oh man, yeah that probably wouldn't be so great. Congrats on your recovery! They also do spring water and pop bottle upcycles but that's all I got as far as ideas. Hope someone else can come through!

I bought clearance purses from Kohls (using coupons I got 5 really nice purses for $30). I put bath and body works gift sets, pearls, and glasses with a monnogrammed "B" on them...ok so I found the glasses at Goodwill, but I thought they were cute and couldn't pass them up lol.

For groomsmen you only need to know two words: Think Geek (thinkgeek.com that is!) I swear there is something for EVERY guy on that site. I wanted to buy a bunch of things off of there for the guys, but I'm getting them cooler chairs and I had custom made ties for everyguy, so I can't afford anything else! cyberoptix.com is awesome for offbeat ties! I think they're also listed on Etsy as the seller "toybreaker".

BTW I've been meaning to tell you: Holy crap, that is one huge e-ring!! Very pretty! =)
  • Here's what we did:

For the moms, necklaces from the wedding/bridal section of this etsy seller:
    http://www.etsy.com/shop/tyrahandmadejewelry

For the bridesmaids, I got them each a pocketwatch necklace, but I chose a design for each girl that would be special to them:

They also got nail polish and earrings for the wedding, and a tote with their name on it from the knot shop (so cliche, I know, but so darn cute!)

And for the dads and groomsmen, DH picked out pocketknives.

    I hope that helps a little :)

  • For my bridesmaids so far I've bought each of them different handbags, which I'm filling with lotions/body wash/lip glosses and necklaces. For my friend who hates purses I'm getting her a byo lunch tote and a book that I know she'll love.

For the guys FI is getting ties and taking them to a nice restaurant for dinner and drinks.

  • @brit - i lost an hour on thinkgeek last night - how did i not know about that website?? lol. and thank you, i love my ring, and FI loves to tell everyone how he drove through a shop window to get it for me ;)

@aradesi - thanks for those links, those are both awesome etsy shops!! so many cute things...lots of good ideas in there.

@serejane - i love that you are personalizing everything, i am thinking thats what i need to do, my sister is kinda awkward and that way i can make her feel special.

thanks guys, i really appreciate your help! x

  • My 4 BMs are so different that I'll probably get them all something different.  Nothing says the gifts have to be matchy-matchy.  Plus it's an offbeat wedding, so all the more reason to do personal instead of matching.

  • i haven't purchased mine yet but the rule of thumb i am following is to buy them something i would buy them for their birthday or x-mas...

oh...i did get them free things off VP for my girls - note cards, not pads, tote bags, pens, address labels, etc...  just some extra things to throw in...
  • For 2 of my girls I got pandora style bracelets & beads from etsy.

My other girl cannot wear jewelry for any length of time, so I am still trying to find something for her.  I also got them bracelets to wear the day of the wedding, and will get them earrings as well.

For the guys - thats on the groom! haha
  • I knitted shawls for my girls because they had told me they were worried they'd be cold, since it is Wyoming & fall and the weather is unpredictable. FI is in charge of his guys gifts & hasn't decided yet, but I did send him the link to bottlehood-such cool stuff!
