September 2012 Weddings

lol - kids

So my 2nd nephew is 14, and he's about to start high school next year.  He's a drummer and his marching band gets to play at Progressive Field (home of the Cleveland Indians), so he's super excited about it.  Except it's on September 29, the day of the wedding.

He's been begging his mom to ask me if I'll postpone my wedding a week so he can play at the Indians' stadium.  Yeah.... I'll get right on that....  She tried convincing him that there was no way that could happen, but he was asking so much that she had to tell me about it.  lol

I feel for the kid, though.  That sucks missing an opportunity like that.

  • OMG he is being so rediculous!  He is old enough to know how stupid that sounds!  I'm glad she didn't actually ask you to move your wedding!

  • Would it be possible for him to go to the stadium with one of the other band members and then come to the wedding later?

  • Ah yes, the teenage idea that the more you beg and whine, the better your chances. It is funny when they start getting round the age of 11-14 how their behavior starts to change.

Maybe there is some sort of compromise?
  • Aww poor kid lol In the eyes of a kid that age, that's a HUGE opportunity! Once in a lifetime type lol
As PPs said, is there a compromise that would let him be there?

I would think that opportunity is worth trying to compromise on -- maybe there's a way he can do both? But I can only imagine a 14-year-old boy would rather do something he loves in a special place than go to a wedding.

  • Well, I'd love to be able to compromise,.  If I were him, I'd be totally bummed out, too; but the game is in Ohio, and the wedding is in Minnesota.  My sis's whole family will be up here for close to a week if you add time in before and after the wedding.

So unless he missed the whole trip to MN all together and stayed with a friend while the rest of his family was gone, it wouldn't work.  And I can't see my sis going along with that idea.
