Engagement pictures - who did yours and what do you think is a fair price?

We are trying to get an idea of what we should budget for these pictures and get recommendations of who to use?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks! :)

Have you picked a wedding photographer yet?  Ideally you would use your wedding photographer for 2 reasons:  1) as a way to get to know them before your wedding day and 2) you could include the E-pic session as part of your package.

I think individual sessions usually start around $200 and go up.

I agree with stephie.  We are taking e-pics on Saturday with the same photographer who is doing my bridals and our wedding.  The package options were bridals and wedding or e-pics and wedding.  Since I wanted them all our package is bridals and wedding and the e-pics are an additional $200.  My photographer is Shauna from K&S Photography.  HTH.

I agree, unless you are getting married out of town.. then that could be difficult to do.

Since mine was included in my package for the wedding, I can't offer too much advice.

    I used Shanna Leigh:  http://shannaleighimagesblog.com/

She is just starting out, but I think she does beautiful work.  She is $200

I used K & S Photography and they included engagement pictures in my package.  I would use whoever you hire to photograph your wedding.  You can see some of my engagement pictures here http://dallasweddingplanner.com/blog/2009/12/30/elizabeth-and-trevor-find-love-at-first-sight/

I used sixfourteen photography. I would love to use him on our wedding but he is booked! :( Anyway I booked him when his rates were a little lower than now but he still is very reasonable! All pricing is on his website.

Chelsea McGowan did ours and we love them!  She will also be doing our wedding day.

I believe she starts at $300 for an engagement session and that includes the disk of all of your images.   www.mcgowanimages.com

WE just did ours with sixfourteen and yes very reasonable.  He is also doing our wedding and rehearsal dinner.  Some of our photos are on his page.  www.sixfourtenphotography.com. I loved them and thought they were great!  They made us feel very comfortable.

We are using Blake Towsley for all our photography.  We had our e-pics on the 15th.  We went around Deep Ellum and South Side for our shoot.  I'm not sure what the breakdown is, but he is awesome.  He gives you a disk with all your photography so you don't have to order prints at additional cost.

He has a few on his blog  http://blakeryanphotography.blogspot.com/

We are scheduled to take ours in April with our photographer, Scott Young ( www.scottyoungphoto.com ). Our wedding package included either an engagement session or a bridal session but I wanted both so he added the second for $75.  I feel the best way to get the most accurate idea on prices is to call around to photographers you are intersted in and ask them what kind of deals they can work out for you.

I took mine with an Oklahoma Photographer--she charged $225 and gave us a disc of all images. She has since increased her prices to $300/session

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $350, and ideally I'd want to stay under $250. And I'd make sure it included the disc of images (with no extra charge)--much better value than buying prints.

Make sure the disc is high resolution and you don't have to pay an additional fee for it.

My wedding photographer is Jessica Mooney, if you are interested.

Evan Godwin charges I think $150 for a disk with all the images and they are all edited ( I do believe)

    I am using Melissa Goldberg.
    http://www.melissagoldbergphotography.com/

My e-pics were a part of my package, so I'm not sure about a la carte pricing.  I would say, based on my package price, it is about $200-$300 depending on length of shoot and number of locations.  She gives a disk will all edited images.  I also suggest using the same photographer for epics that you are using at your wedding, if possible.  It helps you and your photographer get to know each other. GL!

I agree with Stephie. However, i did use a different photographer for my engagements only because we weren't going to do them at all, and then I hear about  Kristina Fanelli through a Knottie, and she was so reasonable and awesome we decided to do them with her. I highly recommend her.

I really like Jenna Cole too--I actually got to meet her a few weeks ago (I'm an avid blog stalker)

Just an FYI--she's pregnant, and I don't think she is going to be doing any photography until June. Still, I would check

I'm using Robin Doyle for my e-pics, bridals, and wedding day pics.  She has done some of my friends and they turned out beautiful.  She is reasonably priced and includes the rights to the pics if you buy a package.

We used Love Pic Love, and they are awesome! I don't know what just e-pics are. We got a package that included them. But their prices are REALLY reasonable.

Let us know who you go with and how they turn out!
