I love this board why is it soo slow :(

What is your favorite inspiration photo?

When and why did you decide to be a "vintage" bride?

  • My favorite inspiration photos are here: http://greenweddingshoes.blogspot.com/2009/05/vintage-beach-engagement-session.html
I would love to do e-pics like this. I think it's soooo cute.
Being a vintage bride sort of just fell into place because of my tastes. I wanted a tea length dress and a birdcage veil and an overall simple wedding, fun and fabulous, yes, but over the top and formal, hell no. I just started to find more and more things that FI and I both liked so it made sense to sort of adopt that theme. But I guess it all stemmed from my personal sense of style.

  • If you check out my bio, there is a old poster pic of a Spanish style fiesta.  I became obsessed with this picture.  Now, my wedding has completely veered off from my original ideas surrounding this picture, but it helped me pick colors and a style and I knew that I did not want anything that was traditional and poofy...no tiaras, no aisle runners, or monograms...nothing that I see on platinum weddings because it all looked just like a show and nothing real...so when it came to planning my wedding I knew I just wanted to be myself and look classic...that translated to vintage and here we are :-D

My favourite inspiration photos are those of my Finnish grandparents.  They're newlyweds and this is actually their passport photo, but I love her hair and chic little shrug!

Being a vintage bride was a pretty natural decision for me.  Though I don't know if it even was a decision!  I've always been obsessed with history, traditions, etc, and love antiques (I'll be studying museum conservation in a few months).  My everyday style is 40's inspired, but I think my wedding is leaning more towards the turn of the last century.

I knew I wanted vintage elements in my wedding since I was very young. I especially love the Victorian era. I also LOVE checking out thrift stores and antique shops. I love vintage aprons, postcards, old photgraphs, bird cages, vanity sets, jewelry, you name it!!! My FH also loves "old" things so it was a given for us.

For a long time I couldn't figure out how to post pctures directly in my posts, then a few of you pointed it out to me. Duh, I felt totally dumb. Anyway, now I can post some of my favorite pictures. The first four are my very favorite wedding pictures that I have ever seen. I was so happy to see them using the same colors and some of the same elements that we are using. Very inspirational. The fifth picture is great because I could picture me and my bridesmaids standing there. Just change the flowers, the brides dress, and put straps on the bridesmaids
    dresses.

*nukke - that picture is AMAZING!
