salad course question

We are having cocktail hour in one room then will be openings up the dining room for dinner. I am undecided if I want the salads preset on the table, or if I want them served after intros and first dance. What are other people doing? We are having a plated dinner.

Re: salad course question

  • if you aren't having h'oers dourves during the cocktail hour, I'd have them on the table already because people will probably be hungry. If you are serving them, you're fine to wait until after as long as the intro and dance are right when you guys come in.

we're doing a buffet, so I'm no help from my own wedding. :)

  • We're doing basically the same as you. We are having the salad served. I think it makes it a little nicer and doesn't leave guests wondering how long it's been sitting there. Just my opinion. :)
  • I would have the salad served.  I know if I showed up and my salad was already there, I'd be worried it had been sitting there for a while; plus it is a nice way to signal the meal is starting - having your salad placed in front of you.
  • We have apps at cocktail hour. The my reasoning for maybe having it preset is to get to the dancing sooner.

How many ppl are you having?  I don't think it will take that long to serve.

  • Prob 115120. I would think it would be like 10 mins, but when we went over cake service we chose to do buffet bc they said it would save like 2030 mins quickening to dancing. I didn't ask about salad specifically yet.

Yeah, but salads are easier to prepare.....they will most likely have all 120 ready before the course.  Hot plated meals are more tricky because it's hard to prepare 120 steaks at the exact same time.  I think that is usually why there is some delay with plated meals.

  • They didn't really give us an option but they are being served.
