Wedding Nightmares

I'm starting to have them, but I'm thinking it's a wee bit too early for them to start appearing.

Did you have them?  How early?  Share one!

I dreamt that our RD wasn't where it was supposed to be (and I'm really excited about its location), then everyone peaced out as soon as possible.  Afterwards my BMs all ditched me and went to a casino and didn't invite me.

Re: Wedding Nightmares

  • I had them on and off for pretty much the whole engagement.

I remember in one of them it was the day of the wedding, and everything was set and ready to go and then I realized that I never sent out the invitations.
  • When I was more than six months out, I dreamed that all my OOT guests showed up early. And by early I mean more than six months. They all decided to stay in our 2BR apartment until September.

I woke up in a panic.

  • I have them all the freaking time. I hate them. They're usually pretty standard not-being-ready stuff.

  • Ugh, I'm over a year out and I had one the other night!

My wedding dress was blue, not white, but my mom said I had to wear it because I had paid for it already.  Then I got down the aisle and J wouldn't stand next to me because my gown was "hideous" and then his cousin Tyler ripped my veil because I needed to be "prettier".  I woke up in a panic only to realize I haven't even looked at dresses yet.  AUGH!

I blame finals stress. I just want out of college...

  • Yeah, I have them a lot.  Most are that it's the wedding day and I realize I haven't done everything.  One recently was that our photographer only took, like, two photos before the ceremony and those were the only photos we had all day.  I think in that one I also had forgotten to get my dress fitted until the day of.  Oh and I didn't realize until after the ceremony that none of the girls (including me) had had their bouquets and the florist wouldn't give me a refund.

I'll kind of be glad when it's all over and we're just married already, haha.

  • I have one about once a week and can't wait til the wedding day comes (may 22) so they will stop!  They always seems to happen when I have been working on something specific, like place cards, and then I will have a nightmare about place cards... It's very stressful but then my FI points out I was just working on that particular issue and obviously was on my mind...and then I relax a bit!
  • Yeah, I have them. It is just our brains way of dealing with the overload of stuff to do, stress, etc
  • I keep having the "it's the wedding day, and I forgot to send out invites" nightmare.  Maybe after I finally get the paper for the invites and put them together, I'll stop having it.

I've also had recurring nightmares where I get to the end of the aisle, and it's not my FI I'm marrying, but some other guy, and I freak out and wake up.  Fail.

  • I had some from about 6 months out. The worst one was that my dad refused to get dressed even though the guests were there and we were running late. My dad is super laid back, so apparently my subconscious decided this meant he'd mosey around on my wedding day too. When he finally got dressed, I looked down and my bouquet was nothing but purple and mint green berries. I called the photographer and told her it was wrong and she said she didn't care.

On the wedding day, my dad was so cute and got dressed at 9 (wedding at 11:30) and came to my room to show me and said "see, no need to worry."

  • I get them every so often. I started having them right after we got engaged. The worse one that I had was about my wedding dress. I went to pick it up and it had been dyed a mustard yellow color and covered in these HUGE red silk roses. It was awful.

  • Haha it felt so real too! Two of the flowers had been sewn onto the chest area to indicate where my boobs were.
  • Dudley, that one is hilarious, but horrifying.  I haven't had any yet, but when I married my ex (who is very very tall and very very thin), I dreamt I was marrying a giraffe.  A real giraffe, dressed in a tuxedo, like the Toys R Us giraffe.
  • I had one where I was walking down the aisle and my cousin was standing IN the aisle having a conversation with a guest. They were talking about the weather and things that didn't really matter. I remember thinking to myself in the dream "This is not how I pictured this. I can't believe my cousin is being so disrespectful." Then I hip checked him out of the way and he started screaming at me "HELLO! I was having a conversation!!!!"

Then at the reception, I couldn't find FI anywhere and I was really stressed out. I was up on this balcony of this beautiful ballroom looking for him. I remember looking over the balcony into the ballroom and I saw Pauly Walnuts from the Sopranos making this amazing toast. I was all alone thinking "I can't believe FI is missing this!"

That's just one of them. I have really crazy ones on the regular.

  • I had one where my MOH didn't have a dress and showed up in jeans. But we still had a kick-ass time. So it kind of evened out.

But later in RL she forgot to pay put the down payment on her dress and it would have taken too long to order it. Luckily they called and its all settled, well besides the fact that she'll be showing a bit, opps.

I had a dream where my BM's and I are getting ready, and my mother comes in, announces that she hates FI (in reality they get along great), and has chosen a 'more appropriate' man for me to marry - but she won't tell me who!  Yikes.

I think your right on schedule.....lol. I've been having them since about 6 months out. They are mostly about flowers not arriving so we're picking our own at the venue. FI leaving me and not talking to me. The worst was when I had a dream I was marrying my ex-husband.

  • I used to have them occasionally. They were always about it raining. It did end up raining on the day of our wedding, but only in the morning. :)

Now I still have dreams about T&C but it's more because I wish we were back there.

  • I haven't had any yet but one of my bms was telling me the other day about one she had. I guess all of us girls were getting ready for the wedding when FI came knocking at the door and I was telling him to go away because he can't see me in my dress. Then he breaks down the door and starts trying to kill all of us. So BMs and I start running trying to find the GMs but they were already dead. Lol!

  • I've been having them pretty much since I got engaged, they aren't frequent but I"ve had a number of them in the last year or so.  One my FI didn't show up, but somehow I had a wedding anyway, and I met up with him after (so odd).  I've also dreamt that other people (like my mom) planned my wedding and I didn't like anything that was planned.  I've also dreamt that I forgot "big" things, like the photographer (who we already booked a while ago).

Can't wait for these dreams to stop.... 5 more months :)
  • I've had one wedding dream consistantly, a few times a week for the past few weeks.  In it, my wedding is taking place in King Henry's court, and Henry was at the ceremony.  He actually interrupts the ceremony to talk to FI and tell him that he wants to know when the marriage is consummated so that he can take me as his mistress.  FI will be named a Duke for my being the king's mistress.

I've come to the conclusion that I need to stop reading Phillppa Gregory before going to bed.  But the dream fits, because we are having an Elizbethan-themed wedding at a Renaissance Faire.
  • Only had one so far and meh, it wasn't cool. I don't remember is too well but it went along the lines of showing up for the reception and the location was all different. In my dreams it was a very dodgy restaurant in a basement with those horrible tablecloths and paper napkins.
