Budget for june 2012 Brides

Hey Guys,

How are you guys coming up with your budget? Is it your guest count or your venue first?

My bf and I arent engaged yet but we have had serious talks about a June 2012 wedding and I know he's looking for my ring. So its just a matter a time. We figured we should start saving now. How much willl you be saving towards your wedding?

  • FI and I came up with a $35,000-$45,000 budget. We are planning on paying for the whole wedding ourselves. We have been engaged for a year and are having a really long engagement to save and plan.
  • were hoping to stay under 20k, we save each month and it depends on how much we spend that month but its usually about 500, were basing our budget on both venue and amount of ppl, we have a large family so were looking around 200 ppl but we found a nice hall that we get to bring in a caterer and all the booze so that helps with the cost alot!
  • we are staying under 10k and put a couple hundred in a month

  • You can choose to make your guest count first, or select your venue first. It depends on what is important to you. If you both have large families and lots of friends and you know you want everyone there, make your guest count first and find a venue after. If you're in love with a certain location and can't imagine getting married anywhere else, book your venue first and make a guest count that will accomodate that.
  • We are planning for 10K but I am putting away 20 just in case. I put aside about $820 a month.
  • Were planning around 10k because my family won't be helping since this is my second wedding
  • We have a 30-35K budget, split between myself and my parents. I am not sure if FI's parents will contribute, but we are budgeting like they will not, and if they do it will be extra. I put away about $500 a month.

  • i no the feeling.... but i think my family will help with this one since they like this guy more
  • Wow. My wedding is a litle different. Our budget is about $5,500. That will include our honeymoon as well. We are planning on about 100 guests. We got lucky with our venue it is an activity barn at our county 4H park so it is extremely cheap. Much of our cost will be for food and my dress. My grandparents are paying for half and we are paying for half. Right now we are both college students and put away what we can afford.

  • I know the ways to set a budget with regards to guest count & venues, but how do you plan a budget so low without cutting some things out? Any tips?

<div>SHOP AROUND!!  make sure to look around for the least expensive option.  But make sure that you are able to splurge on the things most important to you!  For example: my photographer is a little more expensive but i LOVE her work, so that is one of the things I am willing to splurge on and spend the little bit extra money.  Good Luck!!</div>

  • We're sort of making it up as we go along.

Happily, I'm from the NYC suburbs (in NJ), but live in Virginia, so what I think things will cost is always way more than they really are.  We're going to sock away $800-1000 per month and both sets of parents are giving us a little bit to help out.  My mother is buying my dress as a gift.

    I *think* we'll be okay.  I hope.
