The Society Room Of Hartford

Hi!

So... I cancelled my tour of The Bond Ballroom because FI went to a wedding there and thought the room was pretty but wasn't impressed with anything else.

I am still going to see G. Fox on the 17th and wondered if I should tour The Scoiety Room as well. I've heard great things about it but it looks kinda small in the pictures. My wedding isn't going to be huge, 130 people at the most, but I still want to be sure everyone has plenty of room to eat and dance.

So, has/is anyone having their reception there? What did you think of the layout?

Thanks in advance!

Hi!  I am having my reception at The Society Room and anticipating around 120-130 guests.  You should certainly tour it if you are interested!  They can definitely accommodate up to 150-175 guests.  It just gets a little crowded with 200 or so.  The second I walked in I knew it was the place for me.  It is so elegant and grand.  I love the unique style and ambiance, it creates an intimate and romantic feel.  Also, working with the staff has been wonderful.  I LOVE the winding staircase and how there are 2 levels and the top level looks over the dance floor.

Let me know if you have any questions!

2nd that!  I am getting married at The Society Room in May and just have heard rave reviews about the food/venue.  We went there when it was Joe Blacks and pre-engaged and just looked at the room for hahas and said this would be an awesome location to get married at.
They also give you a tasting when you book them to sample apps and dining choices before making selections which was nice as we changed our thoughts on menu based on tasting.  It is nice if you have alot of out of towners too cause your right in downtown.
    Good Luck!

Thank you for the feedback ladies! I just finished locking down a tour with them for the 17th! I'm excited! *fist pumping* - sorry I've been watching way too many Jersey Shore episodes. lol

I went to a wedding at this venue in July. It is very pretty and there are great spots for pictures! I wouldn't go over 125 people there though-the wedding I went to had 125 and the dance floor was just big enough. The website says that they hold much more but thats only if some people sit upstairs overlooking the balcony. The wedding I went to used upstairs for the coctail hour which was really neat. The bride told me that she wasn't interested in using the upstairs for dinner/seperating her guests and that if she did, she would have needed enough people to split upstairs/downstairs without one looking like it was half-filled. I think the number of people you are thinking will work great!

I was wondering what you didn't like about the Bond Ballroom?  We are supposed to go see it next week.  I'd love some info from someone who went to  a Wedding there.  Thanks :)

My FI went to a wedding there and he didnt like the elevators because he said it caused too much traffic in the hallway. He thought the food was good and the views were beautiful but he didn't think it was a good fit for our reception.

So, I changed based on my FI's preference. You should still go, everyone has different visions for their wedding and you may love it. Had he not said to take it off the list I still would have gone for my tour.

Also, if you scroll back through the posts a little bit I posted about The Bond asking for feedback and a few ladies commented. Their feedback may be helpful to you.

    Happy planning!

I am having my ceremony and reception there in July and I have been super impressed by the Society Room so far. We are having about 150 people and we have been told that everyone will fit on the main floor.

We're having our ceremony & reception at the Society room in March for around 110 people. It wasn't originally something that we were really all that interested in.  We thought that it couldn't possibly be as beautiful in person as it was in the photos on the website, but when we went for a tour it really took our breath away.

We're big fans of good, classic style. We've heard nothing but great things about them from people who have attended weddings there. We really enjoyed the tasting and can't wait to have our meal! It's been a pleasure working with Dana - she's been so patient with all of my questions.

  • I'm a bit late here, but I went to look at The Bond, Gershon Fox Room, The Society Room and The Riverview (Simsbury). The Bond was so out dated! The bridal suite was a total joke. It was so ugly. My finance saw the look on my face and knew it was time to exit stage! And they have the nerve to charge similar prices as The Society Room and G. fox Room. Not enough bang for your buck! If you're paying high prices get a better venue! The Riverview is update and sophisticated! It's a very typical ballroom set up, but it's amazing! If you are looking for something unique- skip this place. I'm debating between G. Fox and The Society Room. I think G. Fox will win due to my finances cheapness! Good luck and Congrats!
