Bridesmaid Dress Help

To make a long story short, I don't really have my bridesmaids or MOH to lean on during my wedding planning. I can't count on them for anything nor are they being any help. I really imagined my wedding planning to be an entirely different experience. But it is what it is.

I am having the hardest time finding their dresses. I have given my MOH a long time to come up with what she wanted but there has been no product. Yes, she googled some dresses she liked and sent me the pictures way later after I had to ask her 3 times to do it. She is thinking of possibly picking one of the dresses that she liked and taking it to a place in Santa Ana to see if she can find someone that can make it since it might be very inexpensive that way. That was over a month ago. She also knows that I really can't move forward with the tuxes or table cloth until I get the dresses picked. :/

Today I found a really great website for dresses. It's Weddingtonway.com
The dresses are cute and they even have some in my color! But the dresses that I like and are in my color are very expensive so my quest continues...

So I need to ask where you girls got or are getting your BM dresses from. Is there another similar website that I can look at that have dresses for under $200? If anyone could help me look I would be forever grateful!

Color: Slate Blue
Length: Tea Length or at the Knee (But I'm flexible)

I don't really have any other specifications except that I don't want it super simple.
What do you girls think?

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Help

  • My girls got their dresses at Alfred Angelo. I bought a bridesmaid dress from David's a month ago. There are so David's that can be order online. Look on Alfred Angelo- they have stores everywhere so they'd be able to go and order them.

  • Black cocktail dresses from DB for $99. I understand it can be frustrating trying to get people on board, but if you know their budget and they have made suggestions, I would pick 2 or 3 (once you find them) and just let them pick by a certain date. It shouldn't really be holding up tuxes and tablecloths  if you know the colorscheme.

  • My girls bought theirs at local bridal store that carries Alfred Angelo.  I think they paid 150 for them (clicky).

I agree with Hike- DB usually has some remotely cheap dresses as well.

  • I got mine from Alfred Angelo. It is really nice because they are all over the country so they don't have to travel far to find on dresses. I don't know if they have the blue you want... and it is hard to judge online.

I know their Disney Collection has a grayish blue color. Which might be the color you like.

  • I actually got my bridesmaids dresses from Dillards. I would have never thought to look there but when my mother was shopping for her dress, I came across one for the maids that I loved. Also, if you get a dillards card, you get like 10% off (which is what we did). I'm not very familiar with Dillard's locations, but if there is one in your area, maybe you can check it out or look on their online website. My bridesmaids dresses were $149 & that was without the small discount.

Also, I am not getting much help from my bridesmaids either. Mainly just my MOH (sister) is helping. I expected a little more from the others, but like you said; it is what it is.

    Good luck!

  • I got mine from Ideeli. They were convertable dresses for about $70. Got any pictures of what you're looking for?
  • My BM dresses are Da Vinci. Just look them up, and you can find what stores near you carry them. I told my BMs the length, material, and color I wanted, then they all picked a different dress. They're all paying around $150

Oh wow! Thank you so much for your help and leads! I am off to dinner with FI and family so I'll have to look at all this when I get back or perhaps tomorrow morning.

I <3 you all for coming through and being so helpful. :) It really really means a lot.

My colors are Slate Blue and Dusty Rose. The reason why it is holding the rest up is because if I really just can't find THE dress in the blue, then I might try for the Dusty Rose and I don't want them to clash with the table cloth and FI needs to know what color to tell his GM.

I can't wait to check this all out!

  • I honestly wouldn't worry about them clashing with the linens.

I agree.  I would be very hard to match the linens.  Also if the table linens are one material for example cotton and the BM dresses are satin the colors will look very different.

My BM got theirs at David's.  It was super helpful because one was traveling due to work and could not go to try them on so she just got the dress number and ordered it online.  I too just give the ladies the length and the color I wanted them to have and the could just choose a dress to their liking.  I was shocked to see the all liked the same dress.  HAA

Crown, that's exactly why I went with DB, much to my surprise. My girls are all over the country so they just ordered them online at their convenience. Definitely easier than us trying to pick one all together.

  • Irish- I have to say that the BM dresses were one of the easiest things during my entire wedding planning process.  I thought I would be the hardest.. HAA
  • Like so many before, I would suggest David's as well. You can order them online, they have plenty of stores, and they usually have some sort of sale/clearance going on.

  • Even after picking the bridesmaids dress, I am running into the same problem with my bridesmaids being little to no help (with the exception of one).  I looked all over, and ended up with Davids Bridal.  My girls are from all over the country and it was nice because there is a David's Bridal relatively close to each of them.  Plus, I never thought infantry blue would be so hard to match, and with all the colors David's Bridal has, I was able to pick a color closest to it.
  • We got ours at a  local bridal salon as well they were Maggie Settero or whatev and were $100.

  • That's great! :)

I don't want them matching the linen, so that was the problem. I want them in blue and the linen in pink or vice versa.

I checked out what you all recommended. David's does not have the blue that I am looking for, I looked at their colors when I went to get my new dress. They said they did not have that color.

The front page of TK actually had a ad for BM dresses so I looked through them and came upon a shop nearby that actually has dresses in my color! So I'm waiting to hear back from my MOH to find a time to go since she is the only one who works on the weekend.

I'm also going to check out Alfred Angelo. ;)

I tried looking at Ideeli but I could not figure out how to navigate the site after I signed up. It's a little confusing. :) And Dillards had one dress in Slate Blue but it was def not a BM dress. :/

I could try Nordstrom as well and I'm hoping they have below the knee dresses in the right color. :)

I don't really know what I'm looking for except that I want the Slate Blue color and I would like them at the knee or below. I don't care if it has ruffles, bows, belts, or what on it.

    Thanks again.
