Wedding Wednesday

Morning lovelies! How's planning going?

I order five Vera Bradley wrislets for BM gifts. I'm debating whether or not to put a personal piece of jewelry inside each one or just personal letter. I'm leaning towards letter.

I talked to our on GM who is professional photographer and set up our engagement shoot for Auguest 25th. FI insisted on using him instead of our photographer. I don't really care, I'm just excited for us to have some professional photos done.

I made a consultation appointment for a make up artist who is raved about on my local board. She's an hour away though so I tried calling her and left a message asking to do a phone consulation instead but haven't heard back yet. I'm going to email her later. I rather not drive out there if I don't have to.

I go dress shopping on Saturday!!!! I'm so excited. I have two appointments and the second store has my dream dress. I sent them an email the other day and they'll have it pulled ahead of time for me. She mentioned the sample is a size 8 though, which made me panic a bit. Out of curioustiy I measured myself, but I don't think I did it right. I measured my bust at 44" but I'm a 34A so that can't be right. I only have a 26" measuring tape so it was a lot of shuffling around. Either way, I looked up some measurement charts and they all say I should be a 14, which can't be right. I know dresses run a size or two small, but I'm in between a 7 and 9 street size right now. Am I crazy to think that seems high? Whatever though, I'm really excited!

Edit: I remeasured myself. I was more careful about how I adjusted the measuring tape. Plus when I measured myself the other night I had eaten like a fatty-fat-fat all day. I'm now reading as a size 10. That's more of what I expected to be, somewhere in the 10-12 range. *dunce*

Re: Wedding Wednesday

  • Lots of checks this week:

We confirmed our photog.  As I mentioned last week, we were planning to work with my college roomie's mom.  She is no muss, no fuss, and we will have the rights to all of our pics (which is important to us).  Plus, she's a bargain and most importantly we just saw her most recent wedding and the pics came out fantastic, so we are definitely getting alot more confident with her work.

Our Save the Dates arrived at my mother's house.  She has very kindly offered to do the addressing & sending so that's a huge relief for us.

We confirmed the first block of rooms at a hotel: http://www.libertyhotel.com/ its an old jail and nice and close to our venue plus we got a great rate, so that's super exciting.  Plus, free champagne at check-in. Woo hoo! :)

Morning after brunch is almost booked (its reserved, we just need a contract).  We have so many OOT guests, but all the extra activities we've organized are starting to add up so we were getting kind of sad that we're going over budget.  However, we managed to get brunch at a little brewery in Boston for $12 (plus tax and tip)!  Super exciting, it even includes coffee and juice.  If people want booze--they can sort themselves out.

Also, I think my FI deserves a big shout out bc he's the one that has been trading e-mails and organizing the above. Laughing

  • Man, cnf and Lo, you ladies are on a roll!!

I sent in the contract yesterday to officially book our room block at the hotel for guests. I had the contract sitting in my inbox since March (procrastinate much??). I had it in the back of my mind that I needed to get it signed and sent in, but I kept putting it off. However, this weekend I talked to a couple who is having their reception at the same hotel next month, and they told me that the girl who handled all the wedding related stuff had left and that there was a new person handling everything. So that was enough to light a fire under me and send in the contract. Panic is a great motivator.

Other than that, we're still working on our DIY photo wall project. We got all the wood cut the other day, but we had to stop because it turns out that there are NO stores around here that sell wall paper, so we had to order some online and wait for it to come in. I'm hoping to work on it some more tonight. Here's a link to what we're making: http://ruffledblog.com/diy-photobooth-vintage-wallpaper-frame-wall-backdrop/

Oh!! I'm also going bridesmaid dress shopping this Saturday with 3 of my girls. Whoo-hoo!!
  • I got a big check done this weekend, buying my dress.  It was a fun experience, but I'm glad it's done so I can focus on other parts of the wedding.  We also decided on a photographer, and will be mailing back the contract and deposit this week.  Also, our save the dates came in, and I'll probably start addressing them in September to be sent out in October/November.
Next on the list is figuring out the hotel block and transportation.
  • I feel like we are finally getting sh!t done woo!

We put our first payment down on the photographer yesterday! Super excited.. the person from the company that I really really liked his stuff isn't booked yet.. I just have to wait for them to confirm him.

Picked out the wording for our invites and STD and sent that over to my sister who is drawing/painting/whatever some design for the invites (she is essentially designing them) so that we can get ready to order them next month.

Talked to my BM and MOH about what they do and do not want in a dress for that day as well as what their price points were. They both said they dont' care what they wear its my day. Thanks ladies you are so helpful. lol.

Started working on plugging information into our wedsite so that can be done before STD's go out.

Started our amazon.com registry so that we can start figuring out what we want on there.

Its nice to finally have something done.. seems like a few weeks since i've done anything wedding related :x

  • Morning Cnf!

Out of curiousity - where did you order the wristlets from? I'm still undecided about BM gifts.
Eeeek Cant wait to hear about your dress shopping experience!! I'm going next week with some on my BMs and like you the 2nd store has my dream dress (At least I hope it is - I've fallen in love with the photo haha)

Susie - Grats on the huge check!!

    Me:
FINALLY found a photog whom I LOVE so that's huge as I was in panic mode last week.
So they are booked and our deposit is down! Soooooo happy!

Now I'm not too sure what to start on haha. I should probably start thinking invitations since I'll be DIYing them and that will take me a while.

  • Congrats everyone on your checks!

I've picked up my dress yesterday, so excited! It's still a little big for me, but I'm waiting till spring to get it altered. I'm also waiting to buy the accesories, although I've started to look on-line to see what would look good with the dress.

We got a disk with our e-pictures, and now FI and I need to figure out which once to put on the STDs. We are thinking of doing magnets through magnetsteet, they seem pretty affordable, we need about 100, so it should cost us under $200.

I've also hung out with my MOH last night after we picked up my dress, so we got to talk about what we want as far as BM dresses go, and so far we are on the same page, which is good. We'll pick the color and the approximate length together, and then let each girl pick a style she likes. She aslo asked me a few questions about what I want for my bachelorette party, I don't feel like I need to have a bridal shower since FI and I have a kid together and have been living together for a while, but I'm excited to have my bachelorette party.

  • I'm working on hotel blocks this week. Most of our guests are OOT so we will need approximately 40 rooms. I will block rooms at 2 different hotels for price options. We did get a BM dress picked out this past weekend. So I will order those toward the end of summer or early fall. I only have the small details to work on.

  • Dee, I just ordered off of amazon. Where I live it's kind of rural for an hour plus in any direction and I didn't feel like schleping all over the place to find them. Plus amazon has great prices, fast shipping, a great return policy and tons to pick from (/psa). Five wristlets only ran me $180 with tax and shipping.

  • I sent out the signed contract and deposit for the band! Woot!

Addressed, stuffed and stamped most of our Save the Dates. Waiting for my mother to give me a few more addresses tonight so I can mail these puppies out before we leave for vacation on Friday.

    Bought my shoes! :)

  • I clicked reply only because I am on my Nook and it wouldnt show me a place to post. Please excuse any typos, lack of punctuation, format, etc. Never posted this way before and am lost without ato correct. I got Coach wristlets for the girls in the WP as the 1st halfof their gift. I got thrm all neutral colors so theycoukd easily match them to anything after the wedding or use them for the wedding too. Got a good deal on them at Coach outlet. That is pretty much it for wedding stuff. I am starting to get nervous now because it seems like all of you are really into the hotel room process snd I havnt started yet. Thought it was too early but guess we need to get on that. Congrats on all your checks ladies!!!!!

  • As you saw, I got my dress and veil yesterday. I've been online shoe shopping and pinning today.

We have an appointment next week with the event coordinator at the venue to hopefully sign papers and talk about details. After that, I'm going to work on hotel room blocks.

I also need to review our guest list and work on STDs. FI's birthday is Friday, and we're going to St. Louis for the weekend so I'll hopefully get to chat with FMIL and FSIL/MOH about wedding stuff.

Congrats to everybody else on all your checks!

  • Thanks @mrsK, I'm super excited about it.  Since its a historical site, when the hotel made the renovations they had to take the whole jail apart brick by brick, numbering all the pieces and put them back together.

Its a pretty swanky price and we got it for 35% off last year's rates on the dates we requested so I'm super pumped.

Congrats to everyone else on their checks!! :)

  • I posted super late in AW Monday yesterday, but we booked our DJ! I am so excited, this is a big check off our list. We definitely didnt book the ones that stood us up, they never called or emailed back. We spent double what we were planning on spending, but it includes a ton of lighting. So really, I took care of 2 things with one vendor. Honestly, I dont know what to do next. It seems like a lot of you ladies are working on your room blocks, I should probably do that too.

mrsk- my FI would totally want to marshall a hole all week. One of our friends offered us tickets for this weekend, but we have to work.

lo- That hotel is beautiful, if I am ever out that way, we are definitely going to stay there.

  • Wow congrats to everyone for getting so much done! I can't remember what I did all week with all this other stuff going on but we picked BM dresses, decided on a WP, I have 3 left to ask and FI hasn't said anything to any of his guys yet and I don't think he really plans to. He does everything last minute. My sister and talked flowers so we're going to start getting some prices and we choose all of our stationary, STD's, invites, thank you cards and everything is getting all printed addresses so I don't have to do anything but put a stamp on them and send them out. I'll post a pic when I'm not on the iPad, this thing sucks, it doesn't let me download pics so I have to wait till I get to my laptop.
