Family member performing the ceremony

has anyone had a family member (who is not typically allowed to perform ceremonies in NH) perform your ceremony?

I am hoping to be able to have my grandfather marry my FI and I but NH doesn't allow one-day JP's like MA does..

I've heard about getting ordained, anyone done this?

My aunt married us, but she is a JP.  I don't think it's all that hard to become a JP.  Have you looked into that yet?

We have a family friend marrying us.  She applied to be a JP and paid a fee. It was a pretty easy process.

I haven't looked into becoming a JP..... Have any experience with going through this? i'm sure there will be some sort of issue with us living in massachusetts and getting married in new hampshire.

A friend is marrying us, and he got ordained online. I really don't think there is an issue, he checked it out and we are good to go and we are marrying in NH but live in VA.

So I would say either getting ordained online or pay to be a JP and you should be good to go!

MissMeegs... do you know what website he used to get ordained?

My FIL is an ordained Catholic deacon in MA.  We wanted him to do the marriage ceremony.  He had to get a letter from his archdiocese in southern MA and fill out paperwork in NH to get permission.  Well worth it though

We are having my fiance's uncle marry us.  We are getting in MA, and there is a one day dispensation that we can get from the Govenor to perform the ceremony.  There is some paperwork we have to complete and it costs $30.00   I'm not sure if NH has a similar option, but you may want to check out the state of NH website about weddings.
