Mini Candy Jar -- Picture Included

I've seen these all over the web for relatively cheap. We originally wanted to do a candy bar but once I started pricing it out, I was quite surprised by just how much it would cost. Indeed, it would be AWESOME -- but we're on a budget. Instead I thought about being these little containers with personalized M&M's or something along those lines.

Has anyone used these little containers? It says theyre 2 3/4 x 1 3/4 .... I'm trying to figure out how many M&Ms roughly would fit into each.

If no one has done this, no worries... Just trying to save myself the step of ordering a sample and investigating on my own ;)

The personalizsed M&Ms are a fortune, a candy bar could be cheaper if you use coupons or buy after holidays (FOr isntance I want good and plenty pink and white....walgreens often does movie candy 2 or 3 for $1 so I will stock up that way)

The M&MS are nearly $20 per pound in most instances

I was just wondering the same thing....For a 10lb bag of m&ms that match my colors without personalization it was $162.00....Do you think 10lbs would fill 150 of thoes mini favor jars?

I have a feeling it would, but I'm really bad at guess-ta-mating ;)

We were at a wedding last night and they had those mini chinese take out boxes with m&ms in their colors... they weren't all the way filled but were a good sized handful. They put two hershey's kisses on top of the m&ms which I thought was cute.

IMO, favors are overrated anyway. I always forget mine and then feel guilty because you can tell how much work goes into them.

I was thinking of this at one time. I was going to buy a regular bag of m&ms and see how much it weighs, then see how many (like half the bag? A third of the bag?) you would want for each favor. Then you can see how many favors of that amount 10lbs would cover. I know you don't have the actual jars, but you could get an idea at least. Good luck!

I pretty sure I have those exact jars. I am doing m&ms in my colors but not personalized(to save money) from sweetbe.com at, I think $9.29 lb. I did count out and weigh how much fits in one jar. I don't have the numbers with me, but I will post them tomorrow. I bought 8 pounds to do 100 jars, and I should have extra m&ms if my calculations were correct.

I bought my jars from Michaels, they are $19.99 for 20 jars. I used 40% off coupons on them, not sure how much you found them for online. I bought regular m&ms to see about how much I would need ib m&ms. One jar filled, holds about 35 m&ms and that is 1.1 ounce.According to the m&m website. There are aprox 2500 m&ms in a 5lb bag, aprox (50) 1.5 ounce servings. I felt (hopefully I am right) 10lbs would be too much, I personally estimated a pound of m&ms to be about 500 m&ms. I haven't made my favors yet, I will be doing that at the end of this month. Hopefully this helps you decide!

specialtybottle.com has lots of different jars in different colors and styles. They are pretty inexpensive too.
