Re: Inviation Proof

  • It looks good, but I noticed a few things...

The wording on the invitation looks a bit too wordy (for lack of a better word).  This just seems like too much:  request the honour of your presence

at the marriage of their children

    Ashley Middle Last

    and

    Matthew Middle Last

in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony and

the celebration of the Nuptial Mass

     could you do:
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their children
    Ashey Middle Last
    and
    Matthew Middle Last
    and leave out the rest?

Personally, I do not like the "Adult reception to follow".  If you address your invites to exactly who is invited (we're making this clear by using inner and outer envelopes), then guests will know that their kids are not invited.

5 o'clock is technically in the afternoon....6:00 and after is evening

  • Also it says you're in the States so would it not be "HONOR"? Most Americans don't use British spelling.

  • 1)I agree with Nic, the whole "saracrament of holy matrimony" bit is really wordy. I assume this is a catholic church wedding so people will know to expect a mass.

2)Also, since you have your parents names on the invitation you don't really need your and yoru FI's last names.

    3) Don't say "adult reception" it's rude and it's basically like saying "hahahah you can't bring your kids" to your guests. Having X seats have been reserved in your honour is clear enough.

  • Typo on my part...you shouldn't include your last names like achiduck said.  Your parents last name are there, so you don't have to include yours as well.

@Snuff:  a lot of wedding invites in the US use the Brittish spelling for "honour and favour".  Although, the graphic designer changed favour to favor on my response cards...it wasn't a big deal, so I let it go.

  • I think (you may want to confirm with the ladies over on Catholic weddings) that if its a nuptial mass you can say
"request the honor of your presence at the nuptial mass for their children..."  As PP said you don't need to have your last names, unless they're different from your parents last names.

Ditto Taking out the "Adult reception". Just make sure you indicate exactly who is invited on the envelope.  Remember if they're invited to the ceremony, they're invited to the reception also. If anyone RSVP's with kids you just have to call and apologize for the misunderstanding but the invite was for only those listed on the envelope.

  • I agree with others way too wordy one of the 2 lines after your names should go also I would not have guests initial for menu choices a 1 or 2 would be good or checks something but not initials

Should the 2nd meal option read "Crab Stuffed Flounder"?

  • Thanks ladies!  I have the ladies on the Catholic board looking over it as well.  I know some of you think it is wordy but that is the way the Catholic invitation is suppose to be.

Thank you for catching the Crab Stuffed Flounder error.

Also,  I'll be looking for a different wording for the RSVP card.

So you are using honour too?!  Why did you say that it should be HONOR then?
