Bands and/or DJ Help

First I am having a hard time deciding between a band or a DJ.  Thoughts?  Second, I really need some recomendations on who is good and easy to work with.

I went and looked at a wedding at my reception site the other day and they had a band.  Something that I hadn't thought of was that a band takes up so much more room than a DJ!  They had at least 1/3 of the room for just equipment (nevermind the tables that were in there too).  I'm still searching for the DJ and got a rec for HayDJ yesterday.  I've been waiting for an e-mail back.

We decided to go with a DJ because they usually cost less than a band.  Masters of Music came highly recommended to us from several people and vendors.  Tony is great to work with - he is really nice and open to working with whatever you want.  He is a little on the pricey side compared to other DJs, but we've found that you really get what you pay for and he seems to be well worth it.  Hope that helps!

Whatever you do, don't book Hey Mr. DJ or You're Next Karaoke and DJ.  I've been to weddings with both of them and they were horrible.  If you're looking for a band, check out Max Groove.  I saw them at a wedding a few years ago and they were awesome.  (PP, I've heard good things about Hay DJ, but have never seen her.  Please note that she is different from Hey Mr. DJ.)

We used Hay DJ and she was great. When we met with her though she was talking about possibly moving out of the area so I have no idea if she's taking 2011 dates or not.

She mentored under Yancey Entertainment. He is also really good but a bit more expensive.

I personally prefer DJ's because they tend to cost less and can play such a wide variety of music. Bands are kind of limited to their style. Just my opinion.

HayDJ replied to my e-mail and we're in the works to schedule a meeting.  It's comforting to have other Knotties compliment her work.  I'm getting married in December so it seems like she'll still be around then!

We're going with Sounds Unlimited Productions.  They send an MC and a DJ to the reception, which is why I went with them.  I also had a friend say they were amazing after they did her brother's reception, and our reception's day-of coordinator couldn't say enough good things about them.  I'm very excited to see them in action!

I've heard a lot of good things abotu One Night Productions.  We had already booked our DJ by that point, so I couldn't go with him, but I've gone to two wedding receptions with him as the DJ and he was great.  His name is Scott and his number is 386.3729,  I don't think he has a website or anything like that but he seems like a decent guy.

We used Mike of Pinnacle Entertainment (645-8683).  He did a great job at our wedding!  He played great music and did an excellent job reading the crowd so he knew what to play!  He was professional and I would recommend him to anyone who wants a fun DJ!

We used Jay Campbell. He did a great job and everyone loved him - old and young. He was easy to work with and very affordable! 502-299-5257
