Wedding Cake Vendors Suggestions

Hi Knotties!
I love love love The Knot and started planning my wedding way before I got engaged! Hahaha. Now I am officially and "fiancee" and loving it. My wedding is not until November but I want to get a head start on my cake tastings. *yumm*
Can you guys recommend anyone? I had my heart set on Bakery Boutique but found out they just closed down. Undecided Any suggestions are appreciated! Hope to get to know some of you here!

Re: Wedding Cake Vendors Suggestions

  • Congrats! Oh man i didnt realize the bakery boutique had closed.
I used Bake.Eat.Love for my wedding cake, very reasonably priced. Out of Providence. Tastings were in Smithfield.

Ive heard good things about Sweet Indulgence in Warwick.
Dyane's Sweet Tooth in Cumberland had good prices and seemed nice. they do cake tastings open house style on the weekends. I forget which day.

If your wedding is November of this year, some vendors may already be booked. Prob have some time but you also need to figure out # of people for true cake estimates. GL

  • We are going to go with our caterer for our cake but I have heard Sin Desserts has delicious cakes http://www.eatwicked.com/
  • I like Sin's Cake although they have been inconsistent with their design work in the past, they cakes are tasty. I also recommend Creative Cake Company in Newport, best tasting cakes ever! Both places make real delicious buttercream cakes.
  • I don't eat cake, so I did a donut cake from Allie's Donuts.  Not your traditional wedding cake but I still have people talking about it a year and a half later.  It looked just like a regular wedding cake, but was made of donut.  It was freakin delicious!

  • Confectionery Designs!  Hands down.  Most amazingly delicious and beautiful cakes.  It is a husband and wife team and they know what they are doing.  The husband actually teaches at Johnson and Wales!  They custom design every cake and will make custom flavors for you based on the desserts, candy bars, etc. that you like.  The sky is the limit.http://www.confectionerydesigns.net
  • Diane's Delectables!!  Her website is not impressive and she works out of her home in Warwick, but AMAZING tasting cake and the best prices we could find.  We have had her do 3 birthday cakes already after tasting her wedding cake!

  • Something Different Cake Couture in North Providence, I have been getting all of my cakes from there for about 11 years now, including my wedding cake. Made fresh a couple of days before your wedding, not frozen for 2 weeks like some places.
  • Wow! Thank you for the responses. You guys are all awesome! So Sin seems to be popular huh? I've added her to my list. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions!

  • To everyone who recommends Diane's, do you guys know if she's insured or is licensed by the state? A family member had food poisoning in the past so I always make sure where I get food from is insured just in case.

I would check out Sin and also Sweet Indulgence.
i wouldn't worry that Bakery Boutique is closing, we got our wedding cake there. and while it tasted nice and i gave her a decent review because she was making me a bday cake, the service was horrible, they lost our cake servers (but claimed they left them at the venue....and got into a huge arguement over this, ruining the first 20 minutes of my wedding searching for them), forgot our cake toppers, and then yelled at me to tell me I was in the wrong repeatedly and called my husband "cold hearted"

I never said anything on these boards before because I felt bad that she tried to make it up to me by giving me a bday cake, but that was a huge debacle as well and it was like pulling teeth....
Our cake design wasn't anything like what I wanted, and the bow on the top fell off.

the cake was delicious i willg ive them that and she did a great cake for my moms 60th bday, but i have a feeling the serivce is the reason they are closing.
  • <div>I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. I was just so excited about them with her husband being the the Cake Boss show. Oh well, moving on!</div><div>
</div><div>I just wanted to let you guys know we decided who we're going with. We attended a bridal show at the Quidnessett Country Club yesterday (BEAUTIFUL VENUE and great tasting apps they passed out!!!!!! We made an appointment with them for next week) which featured 5 bakers. 5 tastings in one day!!! Score!! Haha. Sin was also there and her cakes were lovely. The other cake vendors were nice too but their styles are a bit different from what I want. The place that stood out to me was Kami Cakes. Her cakes were amazing and her samples were delicious!!! She was very pleasant to talk to where the other vendor's were a bit stand-offish. She's a newby she said so I guess that's why not too many people know about her. But I scheduled my consultation with her for this week and I am confident</div><div>I found my baker. Thank you everyone who made suggestions!!</div><div>

  • Glad you could find someone that suited your needs and will be professional! the best of both worlds

  • I was also at the show and her samples were great and she was very nice to talk with. Hopefully it all works out for you.
  • We are going with Scrumptions Bakery in East Greenwich. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Their strawberries and champange cake is too die for. :)
