Seriously? How do people not get this?!

I'm pissed. We turned in our numbers to the venue/caterer this weekend. We can add people to this count after if needed, but we cannot reduce the count. So we are basically stuck paying for at least that many people regardless if they show up or not. FI gets a text from his sister yesterday saying her bf can't come AFTER she already rsvped for him and we included him in the head count! Um..seriously?! Do people not get how expensive paying for all this shiiet is?! Wtf. What makes me more pissed is that we have never met this dude but we invited him because we had to for etiquette reasons...and now we're paying for some guy we have never met and who is not even going to be there. Awesome. If you commit to something, follow through! I understand if it was an emergency situation that prevented you from going to something, but that wasn't the case here. I'm so sick of people. Booooo.

    That stinks. We are at our minimum number anyway so we have to pay for people if they show or not. Frustrating!

    That sucks!  I turned in my numbers yesterday and after asking if we can add ppl, they said yes, you can add but not subtract, so I actually took off my BM & her husband who are a little in the air since she is in labor today.  I hope to death she is able to come, but the fact is, there is a good chance they will back out of flying cross country with a 2 week old.  If they do, fantastic and I will gladly pay for their meals!!!

    pzavecz, where are you guys getting married?  I'm assuming you are OC, CA also??

    We had the same things happen to us except it was my cousin and his GF. Fortunately our venue let us "resubmit" the numbers since the wedding is still over 2 weeks away. At this point we can add if we have to but we're not allowed to subtract either.

    Nice!  We looked there, but it was a little out of our price range and I wanted more of a rustic feel.  It's beautiful though!  I love Laguna!  Enjoy your wedding!!

    We are getting married at Bella Collina GC in San Clemente.  It's back off of La Pata.  Really beautiful and tucked away....I played softball just up the road for 2 years and never knew about it!

    We submit our numbers this evening. I'm so nervous based on how many people we had to track down for RSVPs that they will forget and not actually show up then we will have overpaid which is infuriating!

    OMG so happy you posted this! I'm the most stressed out over this. Our wedding is in 3 days and the past 3 days I've had people cancel. 4 people have cancelled and we cannot change our numbers! Only 1 had a legit reason to cancel..... thanks people for making us waste money on your meals! I am fed up!

    I got mine in last night, we had to have names, table location, food choice and we had to indicate who was under 21. I was so afraid that I had misspelled names, and then I realized the it is not like they are going to check IDs to get in and eat, only to drink. My uncle, cousins (one of which is a bridesmaid) never sent in a RSVP and on top of that he invited a guest, he simply texted my mom the information and never let me know. I had to track him down to get a name and a dinner choice. I also found out that one of the mother's cousins and her father will be coming for the ceremony and then leaving because there is a packer game on that night and since they are all in town they decided to go to that, which is fine, we don't have to pay for their drinks then. I am so glad it is done, now all that is left is actually printing out the escort cards.
