Ceremony & Reception--- Greystone or Fore Lakes??

Ladies, I have a question. My FI & I are stuck between 2 differant halls and we dont know how to choose.

Fore Lakes Golf- Kimball, MI

Greysone, Romeo, MI

We have looked at both but we are undecided.

The ceremony site at Greystone is SO NICE! I love Maggie at Greystone, shes been super helpful and I am sure planning the wedding day with her would be great and run very smooth. However, I am not too crazy about the inside of the hall.

Fore Lakes- we got started off to a bit of a rough start so we are nervous to go there. At first Fore Lakes was going to be selling and was not doing weddings in 2013. I was really bummed out that I took the time to go there and meet with them only to find out they where not avail in 2013 when Kathy knew my date over the phone before I came out. The hall & the view are amazing tho!
Turns out they didnt sell and they are doing weddings now. Well I am still dissapointed I was mislead in the beginning and I am worried it could be the start of maybe more problems. I also dont like the fact that you will be sharing the location with another wedding, that means another DJ right next door and sharing the balcony with other guests. Does that mean more problems?

Has anyone got married at either of these, or are planning to get married there?

  • i voted greystone but thats because i am a greystone bride :)
  • Thanks for the advice ladies! I think you maybe right to stick with Greystone.

My FI wants to wait to make the decision after we see the remodeling they did.

Does anyone remember how much time they give you between Ceremony & Reception to take pictures?

  • Definitely Greystone!! I am a little biased since I am a Greystone bride in July! Maggie had said for the pictures all depends on if you guys are planning on seeing each other before the ceremony. My FI and I are not so she wants us girls to get to the venue at 3 to get ready and to take our pictures and then the guys at 4 to get ready and to take pictures. So once the ceremony is over, the only pictures that will need to be taken will be the combined pictures and any with family. She said it should only take 45 minutes. Apparently depending on what package you chose the chef makes a plate of appetizers for you and the wedding party so you do not miss out on those.

I'm a little late here but I got married at Greystone in 2010. We had both our ceremony and reception there and I would recommend them in a heartbeat. You will not be sorry.

To answer your question, we had about 45 minutes between the ceremony and the reception for pictures. But, that's mostly because we got married on a Friday in October and were running out of light by that time.  If you want any more info, you can PM me or email me at sunkissed212 at yahoo dot com.

Best of luck in your decision!

  • It looks like you've already made up your mind but for anyone else that is looking, I HIGHLY recommend Fore Lakes. Kathy is amazing! I worked there for the past almost 5 years and being recently engaged (March 6th!) I am now looking to get married there myself within the next year and a half or so. As far as management goes, you'd have no worries with Kathy. She is wonderful and always takes care of everything. In reference to the situation with them possibly selling last/this year, I'm just thankful that that isn't happening anymore but I trust that Fore Lakes would not book an event that they weren't sure they would be able to accommodate.
