ceremony on fire island

I'm getting married next July and my fiance and i really want to have our ceremony on fire island since we practically spend every min. we can over there. we particularly want to get married at barrett/talisman beach (small little section of beach between water island and the pines communities only reachable by private boat and no docks) i was just wondering if any one has gotten married over on fire island and if they have any advice on doing the ceremony there....i know i have to rent a tent, chairs etc. everything. but i just want to know if anyone has done it and how stressful or hard it was to do. thanks!

    Hey Lilly:  We live in Davis Park in the Summer.  It will be very weather dependant.  The seashore owns those houses there and will not even entertain renting them out, so you are totally in the elements.  I think it would cost you a great deal, to bring everything over there, set up, etc. and then transport guests, etc.  Very, very expensive and I doubt that you will get permits from various government agencies.  Why not try davis.  Casino does a nice small reception off season.  I saw a beautiful wedding down at watch hill last summer in the new restaurant there.  Again, small - anyway we rent our house out for a couple of weeks in July.  I still have a week left. - great house - charming, pretty - ocean view, bay view - if you are interested shoot me an email - baykatz5@verizon.net.   Gervaise at Carriage House is very knowledgeable about Water Island rentals (she's a good friend) Our wedding is in September in Manhattan.  Best of luck with yours.   - Patricia

    Thanks. money isnt a huge concern and my fiance and i have alot of friends who can hook us up with ferry rental and all that stuff. and we already have a venue for the reception its just the ceremony i want to have over at Fire island. i was just wondering if any one has done this to see if i could get some ideas. and thanks for the house but we are actually already renting over there in july this year. maybe another time
