Need ideas for decor around a fireplace...

Our wedding venue has a fireplace and I've been wondering if we should put any decor around it?  The Wedding Party Table will be sitting in front of it during the first part of the Reception, but after the cake cutting and before the dance, it will be moved aside.  We plan to have the fireplace going during the dance, kind of a nice little romantic feel.  Any ideas on what I could do or should I just leave it bare?

This is what the fireplace looks like, that white arch won't be there we just showed up and took pics on a day when they didn't have things put away.

  • I wouldn't do anything if you have a fire going that should be enough!
  • I don't think you need much but if it can be lit that would be romantic.  My venue has a fireplace too, and I'm not going anything to it except maybe taking a "love" wood sign that we have in our house to put on it.....but I'll be bummed if it doesn't make it back to our house after!

Another thought, if you want to get all Pinterest like, you could do a Smores station.  If your venue is ok with it (and assuming it's not a gas fire because that seems gross), you could set out platters of the makings and some sticks.

  • How about flower petals in your colors, or depending on your theme, mason jars or hurricane glasses with votives?  I've seen both of those done before at venues with fireplaces.

  • There's a fireplace in my venue too, right next to the dance floor. I think we're going to drape some flowers and maybe a couple candles over the mantle. And have a fire going, of course!

  • What about engagement photos of you and fi? Or your parents wedding photos on the mantle with some small votives between. And if you can't have the fireplace lit ( and it would be so hot in there) maybe put some more votives in the fireplace?

Our venue has a fireplace as well, I got our wooden letters in our initials from Hobby Lobby and framed some photos of us as kids.

  • We have one at our venue as well, it looks very similar to yours!  Ours is a lodge in the middle of a beautiful state park here in Indiana.  I am going to blow up one of our engagement pics and put it over the fireplace (the room has vaulted ceilings so it needs something bigger over the mantle) and some large hurricane jars with big candles in them.  Can't wait to see pics of what you decide!
  • Thanks for the ideas ladies!  Our venue is at a Country Club, kind of an outdoor feel.  I was so excited when I found this place, its not too big not too small, just right for us and the size of our guest list.  I can't wait to scope out places in the landscape for formal pics on our wedding day!  :)
