Officiant

Who is your officiant? Also how much did you pay/are you paying? Trying to get some ideas as there are only 2 vendors listed on The Knot website.... Suggestions greatly appreciated!

We are using Rev. Jo-An Glasse out of Lancaster. She basically lets you create the ceremony you want. A lot of central Pa knotties have used her. I'm PMing you with her info. now!

We are using Jo-An Glasse for our wedding in May. We met with her 2 months ago, and she is so wonderful to work with. She is so down to earth.

I'd recommend checking out Dave Diraddo from wedding dayz!  He is amazing and definitely caters to the couple!

We are using the pastor from my home church, Ron Parks of Calvary UMC on Locust St. in H-burg. I may be biased but Ron is just wonderful-- funny, off-beat, faithful without being religious, intelligent.... There is a $100 officiant fee for him through the church.

^ My grandparents go to Calvary also and have not stopped raving about Ron Parks since he started there. I swear they have another story of why they love him so much every single week. I've only met him once or twice but they just adore him. Seems like a really great guy.

Anyone have suggestions for an officiant to please Jewish parents on one side, Methodist parents on the other, a bunch of Catholics thrown in, and a generally non-religious bride and groom??? LOL. We want some very minimal talk about God in general, basic traditional "I do" vows and stomping on a glass under a chuppah. Is there anyone who does that?

Rachel, ask Ron! Haha! Because he is so open and reasonable and very much not your traditional preacher, he'd be your guy! He works with other officiants if you want to have it be a duel ceremony (my Catholic father and Jewish mother were married by a rabbi and a priest). Ron is gifted with words-- he can find a marvelous way of performing your ceremony so that you will do a double-take at the brilliant things that will come out of his mouth and you will go "OMG, that was PERFECT!"

Other option is a JOP or other person not affiliated with any religious institution. But, don't sacrifice your own dreams for your wedding just to appease the family. Figure out what you want and then, based on that, find ways to incorporate elements that will please the families.

We're going with Fr. Joe McLaughlin out of Lancaster. He's a Catholic priest who decided he wanted to get married, so he had to leave the church. He does weddings of all demoninations (our is non-demoninational), and is VERY personable and fun. From the minute we met with him and his wife Christina (she usually joins him in meetings and at the ceremony), we knew we it was a perfect fit, and he is very reasonably priced, (300 bucks total). Here is his website, you can find contact info on there as well. i actualy heard about him from someone else on the Central PA board, so now I'm passing the info on to you!

Another vote for Fr. Joe McLaughlin.  He's been great, and very reasonably priced!  Good luck!
