Honest opinions needed (PIP)

Ok.

I went this past weekend for my hair/makeup trials and then, afterwards, went to try on the sample of my dress. I am REALLY excited about my makeup, but I'm worried that my hair is "too much" with my dress being so embellished.

Can you guys give me some honest feedback? I've asked friends about this, but I think they're just saying whatever they think will make me happy and I know you guys will be honest, since you don't really "know" me.

Two issues:
1) Is my hair too big? I do like big hair, don't get me wrong. I'm just wondering if I should go with something simpler/less structured with my dress.
2) Should I add the belt to the dress? I know we discussed this a few months ago when I asked the same question, but when I went in to try on my dress, I was actually totally confused and didn't know what I should do.

ok...honest opinions coming!!!

1. your makeup looks PHENOMENAL. you could have stepped right out of a magazine ad.
2. the hair is BEAUTIFUL. I don't think it is too big AT ALL. it's hard to tell exactly what is going on style-wise in the picture where your face is blacked out (I can't tell exactly what parts are pulled up, what parts are pulled where, etc.), but from the top picture, I think it is 100% gorgeous and perfect for you.
3. I think the belt takes away from the beauty of your dress. Your dress is seriously one of the prettiest dresses I have ever seen, and it almost looks like you placed the belt on as an afterthought and like it shouldn't actually be there. Your waist looks teensy tiny and beautiful as is in the dress - you don't need the belt at all to do that. I actually think your shape might look even better without the belt!

I love your makeup too! It is gorgeous! When I first saw the top picture I thought your hair and makeup looked perfect but from the front (pic #2) and especially the last picture, I sort of do think your hair is just a little too much. I might be the only one that thinks this but I just think that with your hair down and curly like that, it kind of resemble the skirt of your dress and it does look a little odd to me. I don't think it's too big at all, but I do think the curls are a bit much. Perhaps it would look a little better if you pulled more of it back away from your face and off your shoulders? Your skirt just has so much going on that I think your hair should be a tad simpler maybe.

And I agree with butterfly on your belt. I don't think it's a perfect match with your dress so it looks out of place to me. Your dress is beautiful without it!

Omg!! Shutup you look gorgeous!!! I'm adding your pic to my inspo hair collection ;-) I don't' really know your style or what you're comfortable with (thought I'm starting to get an idea) BUT I'd go with everything. The hair, the belt.. all of it. I feel like the drama of your dress almost "asks" that you match that glamour as well. I love the belt for starters, so no more questioning that haha. I love the hairstyle as well. I can see though where you might worry about it being too big. I think it's just fine, it goes with your dress. But I guess it depends whether you're one of those brides that doesn't mind making a statement, you know? If you feel it's still a bit too big, I don't think it should be too difficult for your hairstylist to tone it down just a notch. Seems like an adjustable fix to me. You're going to look stunning!!

Georgeous! Great idea to go try on your dress after getting your hair and make up done and try to coordinate both to be done on the same day. My dress won't come in until May. Guess I could always go try it on at the bridal salon. Anways...I LOVE the hair. Definitely not too big. You want to have it a little over the top bigger than you usually would do your hair. Makeup looks perfect. I agree that no belt also. I think adding some blingy jewelry like earrings and bracelet would have a better effect if you are looking to add a little bling. Your dress is so pretty. What designer? I bet it was so much fun to start to visualize the real deal being a bride! ahh! :-)

Thank you for the opinions, ladies!

I think if I'm questioning the belt now, I probably won't even end up wearing it if I buy it. That's $100 I could put towards something more worthwhile. Like my Saks earrings: http://pinterest.com/pin/112801165636721079/ and I'll be wearing my Mom's diamond tennis bracelet, which was a gift from my Dad.

I suppose when it comes to the hair, I just don't like the way it photographs from the side. The front doesn't really bother me, but the side looks like I have a bump-it in there which is definitely not my style. I straighten my hair every day (it's wavy) and I do want to still look like myself on my wedding day . . . so . . . AHHH. See, this is why I had to ask you guys!

I actually don't think it looks like a bumpit at all!

And imagine that, perhaps, after a couple hours of getting ready and pictures with the girls and standing through the ceremony, that your hair starts to droop a little (even the most talented hairstylist can't keep hair completely immobile for an entire day). If it starts out a little bigger than you planned on, this is good, because it means that it will still look pretty later on even after some sagging and humidity.

These are all good points.

The makeup picture was after it fell a little bit (about an hour and a half after the no makeup picture). I do like it, I'm just unsure if it's too much with my dress, as other posters have said. It really does kind of mimic the dress, which I thought is what I wanted, but now I'm not sure. Also, my hair frizzes like the bejeezus so that's another concern.

I'm also thrown off because I've seen two other brides wearing this dress (both on Style My Pretty) and they've both had their hair up. But I hate the way I look with my hair up! Ugh.

I can totally see why you're confused now that I look at your inspiration pic! Maybe it's just because that pic is a side view but I don't think her hair is too much in that picture. I might think otherwise from the front. This is hard because I really do love the way your hair looks when you're not wearing the dress, but with the dress it looks curlier and less tame than it does without it. I don't know if I'm helping much

Hmm I guess I'm the only one who likes the belt. Oh well! Earrings and other jewelry would be a good choice as well. I can't see your inspiration pic from my phone but I also love the picture of your hair from the side!

actually, now that I see the inspiration pic, I can kind of see why you were confused (like ceglare)...there is a different vibe about the inspiration pic volume that you ended up with. I don't think either is necessarily better...but I can see why you were confused. The inspiration girl has a different type of volume to her hair, but I am not a hairdresser so I am not sure what it is exactly! this is totally no help. we are just getting you MORE confused now, haha!

Love love the hair and make-up! I think your hair is awesome and I wouldnt change a thing. Remember you are getting married in July so the humidity will make your hair fall some.

I also agree no belt I love your dress and think that the belt takes away from the rest of the dress.

This... now my question is, is that a good or a bad thing for you? Regardless, you look stunning and that dress fits you like a glove (even though it's just the sample).

I'm on team no belt, as well. It doesn't look like it belongs.

If only the humidity made my hair fall . . .

I have frizzy/wavy hair that I straighten every day. It's fine, so it is pretty cooperative, but put me in humidity, and I'll be a frizz monster. That's one of my concerns with the style. It may end up looking extremely messy.

That'd be my main worry too. Even my poker straight thin hair gets nasty in the humidity.

I agree with everything ceglare said. I LOVE your hair and make-up in the first picture, but in the last one where you're wearing your dress the hair around your shoulders does look a bit too big/fluffy. I think in the hair inspiration pic the curls might be curled with a bigger barrel where as your curls look a little tighter. I really don't know what kind of advice to give you as far as different hairstyles go though :-/

A little late, but I LOVE your hair and make-up! I understand your concern about the humidity, but I think your hair looks great. I don't think it looks too big in the pic, and as the day goes on the curls may fall a bit?

I think I like PP ideas about wearing blingy jewelry instead of the belt. I think the dress is gorgeous and doesn't need anything extra.

Of course I went and asked my token gay bff and he was like "WHERE DO YOU LIVE - TEXAS!??!!!" Not that there's anything wrong with Texas, of course, but he seems to think the volume is way too much for the dress. I may just have her tone it down just a tad for the day of.

I like the belt, but maybe b/c my dress has ones and I just generally like belts?

Hair and make-up look great to me, I would just ask your stylist to use a slightly bigger barrel to make the curls a bit softer, like MeaganR suggested. If it does start to frizz in the reception, you could always pull it into a low curly side ponytail. I'm doing a similar hairstyle and that's my plan for later in the night.

Your hair and makeup look beautiful.

don't add the belt, I think it takes away from the dress and cut the long line of the torso.
