Wedding night -- where are you staying afterwards?

After the reception is over, where are you staying?  If you are staying at a hotel, will there be others staying there too or are you staying at a seperate hotel for privacy?

We are staying at the hotel where our room block is.  I'm not too worried about privacy for a few reasons.  One, those who are staying at the hotel will likely either retire to their rooms or hang out at the hotel bar, which is open until 2am.  I'm sure that many who come to the bar won't make it until 2 and will go back to their rooms at that point.  So, hopefully by the time 2am rolls around, only the very dedicated will remain at the bar.  Hopefully those people will just go back to their rooms or hang out in another hotel room, leaving us to go back to our own room peacefully.  On top of that, our room will be on a private club level, which you need a specific key to access (can't even get to the floor by elevator without the key).  If we need too, we'll just make a beline for the elevator, go to our room, and bolt the door shut!

Our reception was at a hotel so that is where we stayed.  We had most of the family and a few friends stay there but we weren't too worried about privacy.

we're at the hotel where our block is. Originally I wanted to stay at a nearby one but we decided it would be easier to stay where everyone else is, plus our room will be comp'd so how can I pass on a free room?

We are staying at the hotel hosting the hotel and that is of course, where the room block is.  My goal was to make sure that all anyone had to do was press the up button and no one had to drive home drunk!  After the reception we can just stroll over to the  hotel bar and continue celebrating (gosh we sound like total lushes) plus, if the kids want to go swimming they can leave midway through and go hang out at the pool.  It's a win for everyone I think.

We stayed at a nearby hotel where our hotel block was.  We got a free suite when a certain numbers of rooms were booked for the wedding, so we figured we might as well stay there.  The hotel was pretty empty other than for people associated with the wedding.  We had them give us a suite in a different section of the hallway that was away from most other guests.

We are staying at the Four Seasons downtown! Our hotel block is in the suburbs, but we kind of wanted a place to ourselves and the four seasons was available.

We are staying at a hotel that doesn't do blocks (and is a little expensive) so i'm not really sure who is going to stay there with us, if anyone.  I kinda feel bad about it for some reason because I feel like we should be partying with friends afterwards?

We are going to stay at our hotel with our room block. There is no bar in the hotel but we plan on going to bed when we get back at midnight.

We're staying at the hotel our reception is at and where most of our guests are saying.  We get a suite for free so I"m not passing that up!

Is it weird that we are contimplating staying at home that night.  We could still decide to stay at the hotel block, but our house is 10 minutes from the reception site.  And the hotel we did want to stay at is 400 for the night.  I just dont think we should spend that type of money when there is a free bed down the street waiting for us.  Hhmmm i dont know yet.  I'm still back and forth about the whole thing.  But we wouldn't be going home right away anyways.. gambling after the reception for those late nighters that want to stay out :)

We stayed at the W lakeshore.  It was a gift from my mom because she wanted us to stay somewhere really nice on our wedding night.  Our hotel block was not there.  We loved it and the W upgraded us to a suite!

I don't think it would be weird at all! My MOH did that when she got married this summer : )

We stayed in a hotel across the street from our reception, and although we had included it on the accommodations card we don't think anyone else had booked a room there. Unless you have friends or family intent on harassing you, I would guess you'll be ok. :)

It was nice to stay in a luxurious hotel and relax the next morning, and not worry about cleaning house. If the hotel wasn't comped though, we might have stayed at home too-it's nice some ladies here have that option!

Just a funny story to share: even though DH and I weren't worried about wedding night privacy, my grandparents were when they were married 66 years ago! My grandfather tells me how he booked two rooms in different hotels to hide from his buddies. After all that, my grandmothers mother still found them and tried to get in to give my grandma snow boots! Sorry, probably a little random but it still makes me chuckle. :)

We are going back home to relax and to get ready for our honeymoon. We are leaving 3 days after the wedding. I wanted time to relax and wind down.

Love-I didn't review our overnight hotel after just posting all my reviews, but we stayed at the Hotel Arista (Naperville) in a one-bedroom suite. It was soooo nice and we are glad we didn't stay with the large group overnighting at the Hampton. Brand new...really lush. Check it out!
