Second Weddings

Hello all- I'm kinda new here. My Fi and I both have been married before, and both of our families are thrilled for us..they were friends long before we met . Small town-  I am curious about what is required for a second marriage verses the first. Are there things we can skip and its ok? I've been on the Second Weddings board, but wanted to ask you ladies your opinion.

    I would say as long as you're not skipping stuff that's for your guests (like the whole reception), you're fine.  You can do whatever you want as long as it's not rude to the guests.

    Ours is a 2nd for both...  I had big ol' church wedding, big reception, etc. and he did the JP.  Neither of want a big wedding.  We are having immediate family a few close friends at a park.  The reception will be at a restaurant nearby - my parents will be picking up the tab for the food there.

    WP - I have Co-Matrons of Honor, he has a BM and a GM.  They are not going to have "matching" outfits.  We are giving them our colors - and they just have to coordinate.  The colors are simple, too - navy and off-white/cream.

    As PP stated - it's your wedding - you can skip what you want to!  Enjoy your day!!

    On no- we are having a very small wedding in a friends backyard and full reception...20 guests. No toss, no garter, no wedding party..no split seating at the ceremony..people can sit where they want- our parents and family have been friends for 20 years..we only re-met 3 years ago..we apparently played together as children although we don't remember it.  Open bar, music etc.. I'm not wearing white- or even a wedding dress..its actually a bridesmaid dress in champagne I really love.

    What you're planning definitely falls within the range of what I usually see for second weddings. I know on the second weddings board, some of them go all out for a second wedding, but I've never seen that in real life. In my world, a second wedding is on the small side with few of the traditional trappings of a first wedding, though they range from casual backyard affairs to best restaurant in town type things.

    Thanks ladies!..My FI doesn't even want to send out invites..everyone invited already knows...is that bad to not do formal invites..ours would be be off- norm anyway...he's a computer geek and I'm a cake artist...can we make something ourselves? without the rsvp cards etc..we already have a word of mouth rsvp..and its 7 months away!..like I said small town.


    and I requested a close this account so I could change my screen name...no response- 1 week ago.  You can't change it without closing the account... its a spam email account that all  WR stuff goes to anyway.- But thanks!
