Ceremony AND Reception Venues??

I am looking for a venue that I can have my ceremony AND reception. So far I have looked at Club 1000 which has seemed to be my best deal because I get two seperate floors/room - one for ceremony, one for reception...which is ideally what I am looking for. The whole "room flip" scares me to be quite honest and I do NOT want my guests being able to see the reception as it is being set up. I LOVE the urban loft spaces...went to Berg Event Space and fell in love last night, but again...the room flip is questionable!

Can anyone help me with KC venues that hold a ceremony and reception in two different rooms/floors....and/or that have a unqiue feel like the Berg? (exposed brick walls...wood beam ceilings) any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

This is an international board, I can't really help you since I live in St Thomas.  I suggest you go to your local board (left hand side of the screen).

As far as the room flip.  We've done room flips where I work.  We have an outside space to send everyone out to, then we close the curtains. While the guests are sipping on cocktails, we are transforming the space.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

You might have better luck posting on your local board. :)

Ditto the try your local board but here are a few suggestions:

    Museums
Aquariums (if there is one in your area)

Check with your area Chamber of Commerce.  They have all kinds of information about event spaces for rent.

I'm not sure which part of KC you're from, but Powell Gardens isn't TOO far from eastern KC.  They have a pretty chapel and two reception locations.  They don't have much place for people to get ready, though, and you can't really get into the reception venue beforehand to set up decorations (I assume the staff does that.)  They only allow in-house catering, but I'm pretty sure you can have your cake brought in.  I never asked about alcohol (my wedding's in Warrensburg, so I had a cheaper reception venue five minutes out.  And my mom's backyard basically IS a botanical garden.)

I'm using a venue that does a room flip.  We will be having a cocktail hour in between that takes place in the lower level.  If one of those venues is able to do something like that I think you'll be fine.  I have total confidence in my venue and know that it will all go smoothly!  I've spoken to other brides that have gotten married there and they said eveything transitioned wonderfully.

I am getting married at the Stowe Hardware building in the West Bottoms in downtown KC. We are getting married on the 8th floor and having the reception on the 9th floor. I HATE when you have to wait for things during the whole day such as to flip the room or waiting for the bridal party to take pictures. They are pretty booked so it will depend on how soon you want to have your wedding. Their reception includes unlimited bottles of beer and wine. It also includes tables, chairs, linens, DJ(we booked our own separately).

    Hey there!
Just thought I would throw out some options for you  the Stowe building, The Hobbs building, and the Loretto.  I don't know how big your wedding party is or if these might work, but they are worth a shot.
    Good Luck.

I dont know how big your reception will be, but I was looking at reception sites this past weekend and Californos in Westport said that they do ceremonies there as well.  They have an outdoor space as well as a few rooms that you can use.  Good luck!

The Foundation Gallery is another cool space if you like the urban loft/gallery feel.  They're also fairly large so depending on your group size they could accommodate both ceremony and reception.  I don't think there's two separate spaces but you can have your reception space already set up ahead of time thanks to the size.  Here's some info on it that I got from the owner.

Rental fees and policies for use of the space are structured by the type of event, how many guest are attending, the time of the year and day of week.  The space rental allows use of the fully permitted and owner occupied facility from 10:00am - 1:30am after midnight.  The rental fee includes quality tables, chairs & linens for up to 250 guest.  Free parking, waste cleanup and security are also included in the rental. List of preferred caterers include industry leaders Feast of Fancy, Delish and Moxie Catering.  You may provide your own beverages including alcohol for private events only.  The permitted occupancy rate for the place of assembly as established by KCFD is for 300 people seated.  Fully handicapped accessible with wheelchair lift and newly constructed ADA bathroom facilities.

If you would like to plan a site visit Patrick is there Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 11am-5p or by appointment during the week.

    Wedding reception & ceremony rates:

    Friday 2000.00
    Saturday 3000.00
    Sunday - Thursday 1800.00
