Flowers

Too many types of flowers?

My wedding is coming up in May, so I'm finalizing my flowers. I'm trying to decide if i have too many types of flowers.

I'm carrying tulips
The bridesmaids are carrying roses
The boutteniers are calla lillies
The tables have daffodils, roses, fresia and tulips.

I'm absolutely keeping the tulips and daffodills, but i'm lost with the rest. I want it to be springy and modern. Any ideas?

    No.

I carried hydrangeas, callas, gerberas, roses and billiballs
The bridesmaids carried hydrangeas, callas, and billiballs.
The groom and his men wore callas and beargrass in their boutinieres.
The centerpieces were hydrangeas, callas, gerberas, roses, billiballs and bells-of-Ireland.

Our color scheme was navy, gold and yellow with touches of orange and green in the centerpieces. Our wedding was in September.   As long as there is a linkage through the flowers in color, type, or both; you can have as many varieties as you want.  It's your wedding...breathe deep and ENJOY!

    Why do you think that?

If you want springy and modern go mostly tulips, skip the roses...

are the centerpieces mixed flowers?   maybe just tulips in half and all daffys in half instead.

don't see much unity in the wedding party though...where do the calla lilies fit in?
Maybe freesia bouts instead of callas?

I think a bit more cohesive flowers might be an advantage.

So maybe i do agree there are a few too many different flowers...

Midge, my florist suggested callas because they are less fragile than tulips and daffodils.
Honestly, i don't even like callas because i feel like EVERYONE uses them, and roses too.

The cenerpieces are mixed, maybe mix the bridesmaids bouquets with some daffodills? or all daffodils? We are using a black and white damask pattern, with pops of yellow... the wraps for the bouquet are yellow. i'm open to suggestions because at this point i can't make a decision. ive done too much thinking and my florist keeps trying to talk me into just doing callas and roses... i'm from a smaller town, and thats what everyone does around here. i just want to be different. HELP!!!!!

I have a feeling she is thinking about how to get the tulips and daffodills... maybe anyway. it might be about her sources.
Callas and roses are easy to get and tulips and daffs are more seasonal... in a smaller town like yours that might be tricky...
I would ask her just that.
You might come up with a first choice second choice scenario based on availability...

this is freesia, which is a lot more springy than callas.   your florist is right about tulips and daffs being too fragile for bouts...

Personally I would try to order a couple of cases of tulips and daffs and1 bunch of freesia and rip it...

but get to the florists reasoning and see where it goes from there.

no matter what  all that yellow will be nice yith black and white damask!

If your florist will let you change your flowers, I would skip the callas and roses. Since they are available year round, they don't give that "spring" feel you are looking for. Freesia make fantastic boutonnieres, and would be adorable dotted in with all daffodil and tulip bouquets for your bridesmaids. Keeping it simple looks expensive, even though it may actually save you money in the long run. Do what you want...it's your day!
