How was everyone's weekend?  Mine was short and exhausting, but lovely nonetheless! 

Yesterday at Mass I was thinking about how last year at this time, we were just "practicing" some of the new Mass translations, preparing to make the switch.  I remember how strange it was saying "and with your spirit," and how odd it was to go to Mass and stumble along with the responses.  Now it seems like that was so long ago!

    We went to NJ this weekend, and it was great. I love my fiance's family. They are Filipino, and his aunt brought me over to the counter with all the food, and says "I made a couple italian dishes in case you're not an adventurous eater." I thanked her but told her "I can make Italian any night of the week, I'm here for the Filipino food I only get at your house!"

    Then I ate enough for 5 people. My final gown fitting is on Thursday so that probably wasn't a great idea but the food is just soooo good!

    Oh I also started reading Anti-cancer, finally, during the drive. You're absolutely right it's a life-changer. All my tupperware is going in the trash. I found that my diet is OK but there are some improvements to be made.

    The church we went to yesterday had one of the Knights of Columbus talk at the end about recruiting people. I don't know why but I had never connected them to any sort of religion so I found that odd. But I suppose it's a good group of people to draw from.

    This weekend we went and got new rings! :) Since our convalidation is such a blessing we though that new rings seem fitting.

    We also got 90% of the girls Christmas gifts wrapped. With so much stuff going on this time of year it is one less thing to worry about. especially since we will be traveling twice from now until Christmas and still have so many other events to go to this year. 

    Other than that, we went to Church and we went to the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast to support a local men's shelter. My husband is a knight so it was nice to be involved. It was a pretty nice day.

    The weekends do go way too fast though!

    FI visited me this weekend! It was in the 60s, so we took a nice long walk and talked about future plans. We have to make some tough decisions in the next few months, which is hard to do when the decisions won't come into effect for a year an a half. We went to mass together and not only did the priest give a really funny and interesting sermon, but there was also a baptism! I also was thinking about how we've been doing the new translation for about a year. This was partially triggered by me messing up "and with your spirit" for the first time in about a year.

    Today it is snowing and cold and I had to get up at 7am to attend an aerobics class that my ability to graduate depends on. I feel great after the work out, but I'm upset about the snow after such a gorgeous weekend.

    Maggie, I love ethnic food!  Sounds delicious!

    Ash, that's awesome you have so much Christmas shopping/wrapping done!  And I was feeling all proud of myself for getting 6 gifts, and picking out 3 rolls of wrapping paper. 

    Chloeagh -- it can be very difficult to make decisions now that are going to come into effect later.  I find it comforting to know that God provides, and so even though we might make the "wrong" decision, God can make good stuff happen out of bad stuff sometimes.  That always comforts me when I'm feeling such tremendous pressure.

    im still on the weekend!!!  i love monday holidays.

    i went to a comedy show friday night, and went to visit my mom up north yesterday.  its about 65 here adn gorgeous.  indian summer for sure!

    Knights of Columbus are, by the very nature of existence, catholic. Their main purpose is to protect the Eucharist.

    My weekend was good - H's brothers visited for a football game, and they're always fun to hang out with.  Yesterday was spent relaxing, we finally got some snow that is sticking around, so it's cold and windy out.

    I bought H a jacket over the weekend that he's really been wanting, and it counts as his Christmas present, so technically I'm done with at least part of my shopping!

    We had a good, if uneventful, weekend. I am starting to think about Christmas stuff, and got a couple of things for C.  We're trying to not get out of control with stuff for her -- but she does/will need some things (next size clothes, for example), so I feel like I might as well wrap it up and call it Christmas, ya know. It's fun, because we're really starting family traditions this year in earnest. Thus, I am pretending to ignore my family's annual what are we doing for the holidays drama. It makes me want to move far, far away and just celebrate Christmas sans every.freaking.body.else.

    Biblio, holiday drama can be such a buzz kill!  However, I'm still thankful to spend time with my family, so I just deal with the craziness of Christmas!

    TXKristan -- that is a little weird about the annulment priest...I always find it a bit...idk, tacky? when priests mention divorce during a wedding ceremony.  I know divorce happens, but there are just certain times where we don't have to talk about it.  I went to a wedding over the summer where the priest talked about the top 10 reasons for divorce, and how the couple, whom he knew quite well, was already doing the things that would help them avoid those problems.  It was a really nice sentiment -- that they were a great, stable couple who had prepared themselves so well -- and it was very personal, but it still weirded me out a bit!

    Thanks. That makes me feel better. :) I know we will be happy whatever we choose to do, but it's still a hard decision to make (we're trying to figure out where we will be living for 4+ years after I graduate, only it's way more complicated than just picking a city).

    We had a training today that was mostly helpful.  It's always a little frustrating when the person leading your seminar doesn't have any experience teaching in your content area (the guy was an old physics teacher, the "students" were biology teachers), but we had a good time.

    And over the weekend my MIL was in town and did A TON of work cleaning and rearranging things.  It was so nice to have the extra set of hands.  H and I started hanging pictures in our hallway and the house is finally looking like a home.

    We're hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year, so I'm really trying to buckle down and get everything together.

    Prof - how many people will you have over for Thanksgiving?  I look forward to the days when H and I will be able to host, but it makes me a little nervous to think about planning a meal for so many people.  Luckily, my mom has no problem letting me practice by doing a majority of the cooking anytime we have a holiday at my parents' house!

    Erin, we invited around 20, including a friend who won't be able to go home.  We've already had two cancel, and a lot of people in my extended family might not be able to come because of work, but we're hoping for around 10-12 people.  I've done turkey and ham for various holiday gatherings the last couple years, so I'm pretty confident in that.  My MIL is seriously the world's greatest host, so I've been leaning on her for advice!  Plus we got a William-Sonoma Thanksgiving book, so I'm using that for lots of inspiration!

    Oh I love Williams-Sonoma!  Sounds like you'll be just fine :)  I'm planning to try a few recipes out of my new Taste of Home cookbook this year - luckily my H will eat just about anything!
