Anyone help with Finnish traditions???

Hi Ladies,
  I am marrying the most wonderful man I have ever met and want to make our wedding about him too. He is from Finland...and I want to surprise his whole family by adding some cute touches that will make it feel special since we arent having the wedding in Finland.

I've found a bit of info (placing a china plate on the bride's head when the bride & groom dance & when it falls the # of pieces is supposed to signal the # of children...

But I am hoping someone out there knows more??

       Yes I've tried, I've been finding a bit on there but I'm hoping to hear about something that I havent seen yet...the idea of "stealing the bride" isnt my favorite so far :)

    Could you talk to some of his friends from Finland and find out more traditions?

    Then it still wouldn't spoil it for his family since you said you wanted to surprise them.

    So I am Canadian living in Finland and I have been to 2 weddings here. I have never seen the plate breaking thing that was mentioned, maybe its very old fashioned. Only one of the two weddings had the "stealing the bride" and it was pretty cute. This groom hated vegetables and he had to taste and indentify vegetables to win her back. What else... instead of favours they always have "wedding candy" that is just cheap candy packaged really cute with your names and the date.
    I think there arent too many differences but if you played a couple traditional songs early in the evening that could be fun.
