Photographer!

I'm looking for a photographer for my wedding in Oct. I'm not having a videographer because I think it's a waste of money so  I would really like to get a GREAT photographer with various styles..... I've looked at some and I like their work but $2000 just to take picutres? I would still have to purchase the pictures so that might be another $1000..... it just seems expensive to me, but yet again I don't want an amateur... does anyone know of a great photographer with reasonable prices that actually include pictures for me to take home????

    Hi Lupey!

    I totally agree with you, but I found that the only photgraphers that wowed me were $1800+.  I decided to up my budget to afford a good photgrapher because we are not doing a videographer either.

    Good luck!  My advise for photos is quality over price, especially because they are the only thing that will last the test of time!

    I would definitely put in a little more towards the photography because it is really worth it to pay that extra for a professional. I'm gonna be working with Craig Rucker. By coincidence, one of my sister's coworkers used him for his wedding and he said he did a great job and was completely professional. His prices are pretty reasonable for the work he does.

    I'm not using Jordana Hazel even though I LOVE LOVE her stuff because I got a great deal with Craig Rucker who doesn't have an hourly rate.  His rate is for the whole day.  He's also very good, but she's definitely got something special going on!

    They did my wedding and were fantastic!!!  They have reasonable rates and I know a couple of knotties have and are using them.

    Here's two cents from a married lady . . . I was on a very small budget and thought that videography was a waste of money also. Not hiring one is now one of my biggest wedding regrets. If you can afford it, I would reconsider =).

    I can't recommend my photographer and want to say that just because you pay $2000 or more, does not guarantee that you will get good pictures or service so shop, shop, shop around. I can personally recommend Jordana Hazel (she did my boudoir photos and she's amazing!) but I would also suggest looking into Ashleigh Taylor.

    Good luck, shop around more than you think you need to/really investigate your selections, and don't settle!

    Definitely try NMG Photography! They do awesome work and are the nicest people (Husband-wife team). Michael shoots amazing candids while Natalie shoots the more formal shots. They also do a slideshow to music (they're really cool--you can post on FB, etc.), so it's almost like having a videographer as well! They're at nmgphotography.com or at 310-948-6603.

    We used Aileen Secord and loved her!!!!!  We have received so many compliments on her pictures and we got 8 hours, 2 shooters, and the CD with all pictures for $1200. 

    We also did a first round of engagment pictures with Ashleigh Taylor and although she was very sweet and she got lucky with a few shots, she is definitely an amateur and she was not confident at all.  She was very nervous the whole time which made it very awkward for us.  I'm sure she'll get better with practice but if you are looking to skip the amateur that's my advice.

    Aileen on the other hand, did our second round of e-pics, loved them!, and our wedding, loved them too!  She was confident, professional, and her second shooter was a very experienced photographer who was amazing to work with as well.
