Have  you ladies gotten your dresses bustled yet?

I met with my seamstress today, and she's planning on doing a single point right under the zipper (in addition to making a point to gather in some of the lace)- Are you guys doing something similar?

Just curious!

  • i've had three appointments so far, they've taken it in and hemmed the bottom.  my next appointment is this thursday to do the bustle.  my seamstress says they'll do 3-5 points but they won't know until the appointment so they can play around with it and see what looks best.

i'm kind of nervous i'll forget how it goes together and my mom said the last time she hooked up a bustle was on her own wedding dress with the help of her mom/friends  hahaha  but she said it's pretty logical and we should be able to figure it out  :-P

i'll see if i can get a picture of it thursday and post it  :)

post pics of yours if you can!  :)
  • My first fitting is Saturday, and I have a feeling I will be exchanging for a size up :( so I probably wont have an idea about the bustle then...I will let you know!

  • Awesome!

I didn't get a picture of my dress today, but it's essentially this:

  • I'm not sure about a bustle or not. I'm not too sure how that would look/work out with my dress. I was thinking of maybe having a nice discreet button to attach my train up higher after the ceremony, since I'm only wearing the dress, and not buying a separate one. I won't know until my first fitting which I'm waiting on my shoes to get here before I do that.
  • amandad: that looks nice!  i like the simplicity of it... hopefully my seamstress will do something similar.  we'll see :)
  • I really like that bustle!

  • Me too!

We've talked since yesterday, and I think she's actually going to do two bustles, essentially- One for the bottom layer and one for the top. I was concerned with putting so much weight on one point and emailed her about it last night, and she wrote back this morning saying she was thinking the same thing and suggested doing each layer separately.

So still the same look as above, but not so much stress on the points :)

Also- I freaking love our dress. I wish I could wear it every day- That wouldn't be weird, right?
